Friend had a different P365 mag NIB failure. Gun came with three X/XL 12rd mags (TacPac). One had rounds fly out the top when back of mag was lightly tapped on bench (ensure rear seating of ammo). I verified it. Told him to send it back to Sig. Called, got RMA, they replicated and sent a new mag. Stuff happens.
Per cslinger, yeah ya gotta wring out a new carry gun + mags + ammo. A failure with any of the three could be deadly. Mark your mags to isolate mag issues.

I received my new P365X with 12 round magazines a few days ago. They are the most difficult to load magazines I have ever encountered. I had to go buy an Uplula mag loader today and it makes loading a lot easier. It is no wonder that a base plate might give way if it wasn’t seated properly.

A magazine loader helps considerably. But ISMI magazine springs have a lower initial spring force but appear to have their spring force change less over time than the Sig magazine springs do. Also the MagGuts magazine spring kit has less initial spring force with a magazine loaded to capacity, but has just as much spring force with only one round left than the Sig magazine spring has and it allows TWO extra rounds!!! The MagGuts springs appear to lose their spring force at about the same rate as Sig magazine springs. Either of these springs make it easier to load than the Sig magazine springs.
Also check the surface finish of the stripper rail. A rough surface finish can make it EXTREMELY difficult to retract the slide over a magazine loaded to capacity. I needed to wet sand the stripper rail of my P365 and make it smoother, but the stripper rail of my P365XL was reasonably smooth right out of the box. YMMV
