I've been wanting to get a Walther PPQ for a number of years but in my area, they've never come up for sale. Last week, I was at the local Sportsman's Warehouse to get a Ruger RXM and as I was waiting for my paperwork to clear, I browsed their gun counter and came across a used PPQ. Thought about it this week and dropped by the store last night and picked it up. $340 including the background! Came with 3 magazines that looked barely used; the condition was very good, a few minor scratches and wear. Dry-fired it and it's probably the best trigger among any of my striker-fired guns (Sig/Glock). Now I'm on the hunt for another PPQ! ...let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one. Nice score. Yes, definitely has the best stock trigger of any strikers I’ve had. I have the PDP compact with 5 inch barrel as well, some say the PDP trigger is slightly better but to me they’re the same (PPQ prolly smoother given it’s older). Only issue is the stock sights are less than desirable. I’d recommend getting better sights. “Posterity! You will never know how much it cost the present Generation to preserve your Freedom! Many years ago I purchased some nice night sights for my PPQ from Earl's Repair. You might consider that.

lkdr1989, you got a great deal on a very fine pistol. You will enjoy it a lot. _________________________ 2nd Amendment Defender The Second Amendment is not about hunting or sport shooting.

That is indeed a good deal you got. I fondled a more compact model Walther yesterday with a OD green frame. It said something like Final Issue or Final Edition on the slide. It was shorter than the PPQ but was $750.00. The trigger was excellent and it had a decocker atop the slide which one depresses downward. A nice little green pistol.

Terrific pistol and congrats. The fact that is not optics ready seems to hurt resale these days but that creates good opportunities for those of us that are not concerned about that. The PPQ shares a lot of parts with the PDP. I tried a PDP but like my PPQ better and think it is a better looking pistol too.

That is a great get at a no brainer price. I had always heard they had the best trigger of all the striker guns out there followed by the VP9. Generous Karma, please count me in. ___________________________ "Opinions vary" -Dalton

That final edition gun is probably a P99. You can find them online for 549.

Congrats! I have the same pistol. My factory trigger is WONDERFUL. In fact, better than my Walther Q5 Match - Steel Frame. Better than my PDP too The PPQ's have a stepped chamber and are very accurate and reliable. Top notch! Trijicon makes their HD sights for it. Lets you keep the adjustable rear too. Five minute install. No sight pusher required. The factory sights are horrible. Go figure! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I...ed_asin_title_6&th=1 , SPOAT Death? Smile back.

The PPQ is a fine pistol, the lineal descendant of the P99, which is the pistol that essentially saved Walther. Your is the first version of the PPQ, known retroactively as the PPQ M1 or the PPQ Classic after the introduction of the PPQ M2. The difference is that the M1 has ambidextrous paddle magazine releases, whereas the M2 has a reversible push-button magazine release. The paddle release make for quick magazine ejection, as you can eject mags with your trigger finger. I love the paddle release. Your pistol accepts P99 magazines, which are identical to M1 mags except for finish (depending upon magazine vintage) and floorplate markings. PPQ M1 and M2 mags are not interchangeable. The slides of PPQ M1 and M2 versions are identical and either will fit on both versions of the PPQ frame. Yes, the PPQ has a superb stock trigger and if you want to improve it, get a Walther Dynamic Performance Trigger, which is, in my opinion, the finest drop-in trigger from any manufacturer, aftermarket or otherwise. The trigger pull is quite refined and well worth the 180 dollar asking price.

The best triggers I've ever tried on a striker fired gun are the Walther Dynamic Performance Trigger mentioned above and the Canik TP9 trigger found on their Rival series & TTI models. Their pull weight is in the 3-4lb range, and their reset is less than 1mm... pretty close to a good 1911 trigger in a striker gun.

I carry mine every day. One more thing about the mag release, you cannot lose a magazine while it is in a holster. It can't happen.

A word of advice- get yourself some grip tape. Shown with Streamlight TLR-7A, Walther Dynamic Performance Trigger, Walther +2 magazine extension and Talon Grips black granulate grip applique.

Man, I wish my PDP’s had paddles. There are only two things I would do if I was in charge of Walther. Offer the paddles on PDP’s and shorten the slide catches. They are crazy long and there is no easy factory part to swap out. I have to be very careful of my thumb placement or I will ride the catch nullifying slide lock. HK’s were the same but they sell a factory shortened catch that I installed in all my guns. On the steel frame models I swapped out to Veloce style LOK Grips which lock into your hands.

Appreciate the tips everyone. Next on the list are new sights and a bunch of mags. ...let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one. Luke 22:35-36 NAV "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves." Matthew 10:16 NASV

Sights- that's another great thing about the P99/PPQ. You don't need a sight pusher to change the rear sight, which is held in place with a plunger and spring. Be careful when depressing the plunger, because you can have tiny parts go ka-sproing and never be seen again. My suggestion is get a plastic bag and change the rear sight inside the bag in order to capture parts that go airborne. The front sight is attached the same way as Glock front sights. Get yourself a 3/16" nut driver and some thread locker and you're all set.

Congratulations! PPQ's are definitely a favorite and best shooting pistol for me. I put a 10-8 U notch rear sight and Dawson fiber optic on the front. Like the PPQ so much I picked up a Q4 steel frame to go with it. The jury is still out, but I can't say I like the steel frame over the standard PPQ.

Walther 15rd p99 mags 24 beans at cdnn investments. Will work in the PPQ m1 that you have. Just bought 10. Base plate says p99 on bottom.

Years ago, I bought a H&K VP9 because it had a great trigger. Every post had someone saying it didn't even touch the PPQ. So I went and found a PPQ. Now, I own 8 of them. They are my pistol of choice set around my house for bump in the night inquiries. Check out the 5" model...especially the Q5 Match. Those triggers are incredible.

I agree with you on the sights. This year my gunsmith replaced the original sights on my two PPQs (one a compact) with Trijicon's.
