Glock 43...who still carries it and why?
OK...more of a question to see if I'm out in left field. I have a P365 which I like, and I'm even entertaining the idea of a 43X...but I still really love my old standard G43. I have Vickers +2 extensions on two mags, and Pearce +1's on the others. It's thing, and light (more so than my P365) and carries better than most of my guns...

In a world where there is the 43X, P365, or even the Hellcat, who is still carrying their G43? And I'm curious as to why you still choose it over the others.

I occasionally carry a 43 over the 365 because of thinness, and the grip texture on the 365 snags some of my shirts. The 43 just works better in some situations. The 365 is my main small carry gun.

I shoot the 43 very well so will continue to carry it. I like the size and feel. Not worried about an extra couple of rounds (I carry a spare mag). If it aint broke, don't fix it!

I don’t have a 43 and I do generally have the luxury of buying what I want that said I’d imagine there are plenty of folks where buying another gun/flipping a gun is too costly/too much of a PITA for what could be argued is an incremental benefit.

In my case I have a Walther PPS so basically a Glock 43esqe pistol and I have no desire to change to or add a 365/Hellcat etc. in my case carrying is almost always a G19 sized gun and I rarely go smaller and if I do a J-Frame or PPS does just fine.

Now if I was buying my first itty bitty auto it would Likely be a 365 or Hellcat but having a bazillion guns these just don’t really bring anything to the table for me personally.

The Sig is actually a little bit lighter and smaller in size, perhaps you should look at this. I would never go back to my 43 after owning the P-365 if I wanted a smaller, lighter gun to carry, I would carry my Glock 42 with pierce +1 grip extensions, it is one of the easiest pistols to shoot, very very accurate and with the right ammo, either Inceptor ARX or Black Hills Honey Badger, it will get the job done as well as most 9mm Hollow points.

That being said, my favorite pocket pistols are either my Remington RM380 or my new Ruger LCP-2-.22 10 round magazine which again with the right ammo, Honey Badger for the RM380 and .22 cal CCi Mini-Mag 40 grain Segmented Hollow points for the Ruger I feel perfectly comfortable carrying, and not only trustworthy comfortable, but physically comfortable as well since your hardly even know you are carrying them with a Nemesis pocket holster in my front pocket. Accuracy? Both mounted with laser sights I can ring the bad guys bell easily out to 15 yards.

I sold my Glock 43 a while ago. It’s one of the few pistols I just couldn’t shoot well. I still have a Glock 42 that I did carry until I got a P365 which is very comparable in size to the 42. In fact, it fits perfectly in the holsters I had for the 42. I don’t know that I’ll carry the 42 much anymore and definitely wouldn’t choose the 43 over the P365.

Similar to me. I like shooting it, I have several holsters for it, it carries well for me, I see no real need to change systems. I like the 365, rented one at the range, but I'm satisfied with the G43, even with its shortcomings on capacity.

Sorry for the short reply. I am issued a 43 as a backup pistol for duty but, for uniform use I prefer a 26 so I can use my Glock 17 mags in an emergency. I carry my 43 sometimes off duty due to the ability to carry this pistol in a pocket or ankle holster. The 43 is the pistol I carry when I can't carry anything else. For our state backup weapon qualification we shoot from 15 yards to the 3 yard line so it has the accuracy built in the product. I am the idiot so I am told because I don't fawn over the 365, 43x48 or whatever over 7 shot mini pistols. For me the 43 is the bee's knees as a semi auto replacement for a j-frame Smith revolver. If you shoot well with the 43 then DRIVE on carry extra mags and practice PRACTICE AND PRACTICE some more...VI

I bought the 43 to replace my 442 J frame as both an on duty back up (ankle) and off duty in an IWB holster. For some reason even though I don't shoot full size glocks as well as I'd like compared to others (M&P, P320, VP9) I can't seem to miss what I'm aiming at with the 43, so I don't plan on changing anytime soon.

I do. It’s a Glock. I know it will function when needed.

I do, I just don’t trust the p365 no matter what the build date is. When another company comes out with something similar that isn’t Springfield I’ll probably give it a try but I have complete trust in my Glock and won’t roll the dice for a couple extra rounds. If the 365 didn’t have the capacity that it does a lot of people wouldn’t have over looked the problems it had early on

I do. My rotation is currently the RM380, the Glock 43, and the P365 SAS. I have a taran baseplate so it is a 7 + 1 for me.

The 43X with the Shield magazine is very interesting. I may have to give that a whirl...but no one has a 43x right now for me to look at....

I carry a G43 or PPS sometimes hot weather when a G19 is a bit much and I'm off the property.

Why?

I hate change for changes sake. Yeah, I could get 3-5 more rounds (I use Pearce +1s in the G43) with a P365, a Springfield Hellcat, etc - but it's more money to spend on a weapon, carry gear, magazines, and ammo & time to vet the weapon. And in hot weather, it's not only size but weight of what you are carrying.

So for the cumulative 45 days a year I carry a G43 or PPS, it's simply not worth the expense in money or time to change.

I carry one. I bought the Vickers version a while back. I owned a couple before that and kept going back and forth between a 43 and 26. Enter the tango down plus 2 extensions. They are 100% reliable thru thousands of rounds so when I carry a 9mm it's a 43. On the belt or IWB it's a 9 round package (8+1) and in a pocket of my winter jacket i just use the flat base plate standard mag and go with 6+1.
The 43 is 100% reliable, very accurate and very easily concealed. While the P365 is a nice package, for me it's the G43 all the way.

I do, and I don't see myself going away from it. It just works for me. I've really had no interest in anything else.

I have excellent holsters and it carries perfectly, I shoot it well, and it has never had a failure of any kind. I trust it.

I use a +1 Taran Tactical base plate for my carry mag to give a bit of extra length, a Pearce +1 for the second carry mag for a bit of extra grip for reload, and a third one with Taran +1 when I want to carry another mag. Pearce to the off-side rear, Taran right in front of it.

I carry my G43 every time I leave the house except for work (can't carry on post or in uniform). I have a Taran Tactical +2 baseplate so it works for me. I have been eyeing P365 XLs with a Romeo Zero though. I like the idea of more rounds and I shoot pistols with red dots pretty well. At some point I will give into my desires and buy a new carry pistol, until then the G43 works for me.

I still have my 43 but after having the P365 a while, the 43 has been collecting dust. I'll probably sell/trade it soon. If anything I may look at a 43X as I have some parts from my 43 that would work with it.

I shot poorly with the 43. It was really disappointing because it was such a great little concealed package even if the round count was anemic.

The P365 replaced it, but I ended up selling it, too. I thought I saw a video recently of a prototype polymer frame for a Glock 43 that accepted the P365 ten round magazines.

I bought some 15 round mags for the 43X from Shield Arms. I plan to do a P80 build at some point. I would rock an aftermarket frame for a 43 upper that took P365 mags. That would be very cool.
