My best issued was my Gen3 G22. Never had and issue with it. I am not a fan of Glocks or the .40 but, that is what I was issued. My favorite personal gun that I carry for my Marshals gig is my Beretta LTT 92G. Fits my hand like a glove very smooth and very accurate.

Hated our G23 which was the replacement for the 3rd Gen S&W after they ceased productuion. We should have gone with the G22. Funny thing was I shoot with the NE Glock LE Rep and he told me the G23 was only manufactured because some administrators wanted something small enough for on and off duty. They never thought much of it but you build what the customer wants. Fortunately I never was forced to carry it. Good thing as a few years later with a low round count the slide fell off during a competitive event here in NH. Even worse was being surrounded by a lot of the Sig academy staff. They got a good laugh from it.

HK USPF V4 in 40S&W. The P320F in 9mm was great too but the USP was just a confidence inspiring brick shit house of a sidearm. First job issued a Gen4 G22. Next gig was a P229 DAK in .40S&W, which we got rid of for M&P9 2.0s with TLR1HLs. Current agency issued a Gen4 G17 with a TLR1. The M&P is my runaway favorite. I would buy my own and carry it if I could. ****************************** May our caskets be made of hundred-year oak, and may we plant those trees tomorrow.

Was issued a P320 full size to replace my personal P226. I liked the P226 but the P320 is better. When I switched departments and had to provide my own sidearm again, I bought a P320 full size AND a P320 subcompact for backup and off duty. So... issue and personal, the P320 all around. ETA: When I carried the P226 I carried a 2” Taurus M85 in .38 Sp as my backup. I know Taurus gets little love, but I really liked it and still carry it off duty sometimes. "I am a Soldier. I've been issued three duty weapons to date. I started with a beat up S&W 4006. From '02-12 we had Gen 3 Glock 22 with a NY trigger. The best by far is our current issue, a Gen 4 Glock 17 with a Streamlight TLR-2 and Trijicon night sights. Hater of fun since 2001!

Glock 21 (gen 2). Ok, it was my only issued pistol. It was accurate, reliable and easy to shoot. I carried a second, personally owned, G21 (gen 2) with my second agency and in 18k+ rounds, the only issue I had was the recoil spring rubbed the polymer guide rod, causing it to break but that was an easy fix.

While my favorite all around was the personally owned 226, the best issued gun I have ever had is the current. Gen5 Glock.

It's a tossup for me between the Personally-Owned, Department Approved P-220 and the issued P-320 I had when I retired. I still have that 320 as it was engraved with my name, rank, dates of service and the SO's badge and presented to me when I left. I also have the earlier non-upgraded version of the 320 that the agency could either send back for replacement or sell to deputies (at a pretty nice price) when the uproar over the drop problem hit. I do carry the 220 more often these days, so I guess that one scores higher.

Revolvers Smith and Wesson 681. Semi automatic pistols mine Glock Gen 1 17 , theirs Glock 22's and Gen 4 17. Now for the rest of the story the guns that were there but not there... I know the ramifications but, hidden Beretta .25 Jetfires and Smith and Wesson hammer less kept in jacket pockets for onion field days...VI

I was issued a beat up M10 .38 S&W. I switched over to my own Glock 17 Gen 1. Then, the dept transitioned to Sigs. I carried an issued P228 with 12#+ DAO trigger and then an issued P220R DA/SA. I liked the Glock the best. The G17 was great for fast combat shooting. The P228’s trigger was horrible, but the pistol was a good size and reliable. The P220 was a fine pistol, but too big for off duty use. No one carried it off duty. Most guys carried G23’s off duty including me. It says a lot about the Glock 17 that I carried one in 1990 and it was much later adopted by the UK military and French military. Our own Special Forces use Glocks. ----------------------------------- "If they don't go concentrating on meaningless cosmetic changes, like rainbow this or two-tone that, or wood grip panels from the ackabalacka tree"-Parabellum

After 30 years in LE and serving 4 different agencies, only 2 issued duty handguns. The large city agency I worked for was a 9mm only department when I started and issued Ruger P89s, P94s, and P95s. Later, they transitioned to .40 and issued Gen 3 G22s, which I really liked without the WML attached. In my current police academy gig, I'm issued a Gen 5 Glock 45 9mm which is on the fast track to being the best duty weapon I've ever been issued. Recoil is nothing and handling is a breeze. I've ran Glocks off and on since 1992, and this is by far the best Glock I've had in my duty holster. The best personally-owned duty weapon I ever carried was a W. German Sig Sauer P220 .45 Auto with spur hammer way back in 1994-1996. What a piece of work. Wickedly accurate, totally reliable, and it was with me on a lot of nights when I made some high quality arrests. The P220 and caliber gave me great confidence. If it's possible to have a sentimental attachment to a piece of metal, I'm sentimental about that old P220.
