adorP227 SAS reasonable price
Good day folks. I am not posting a WTB Ad here. Just want to ask your opinion on what is a reasonable price for a New Old Stock P227 SAS, with 2x 10round mags and 2x 14round mags. A local guy is selling. I don’t want to offer insulting price, but I dont want to pay too much either. Thanks.

.38supersigThe 14rd magazines are kinda spendy right now. You can get a new 2011 magazine for less.
You may want to check with the completed items on Gunbroker to get a better idea of what to offer based on condition, mags etc...

adorThanks folks. I am watching a used P227 SAS in GB right now. I have a number I am comfortable in offering the seller. I just don't want to come across as a lowballer and insult the seller.

GenorogersI wouldn't worry about insulting anyone on GB, just my opinion.

adorOh no. The seller is local, not GB. I am just using the price in GB as a baseline reference.

One I saw on GB has $850 buy it now.
With shipping and transfer it be around $900 or so.
I'd say that is a fair price.

I don't think offering $800 would be a lowball, depending on how sensitive the seller is and how badly he wants to sell it..
Someone offering $500 or less would be a lowball.
As a seller, I wouldn't even respond to an offer that low.
Good luck with the purchase ador....

12131When considering how much you want to spend, in addition to shipping and fees, don't forget to also factor in your state sales tax for the final total, when buying on GB. Unless you live in a state w/o sales tax.

got2hav1I paid 850 + tax for a like new one last year. I thought it was reasonable then. Good luck with it.

monoblokAre the 14 rounders actually reliable? They weren't, once upon a time. I seem to recall that SIG's factory fix was to replace them with
10 round mags. If their reliability is still in question, I wouldn't factor their existence as part of the deal, and that affects what my offer would be.
The $900 number that the dealer paid for this exact package seems excessively high from my standpoint as a dealer, but perhaps things are different in other parts of the country. I haven't been following what P227 values have been doing nationally, but they're not exactly in high demand around here. At that
cost, this particular dealer must be thinking that he might be able to somewhat easily flip it for $1400 to $1500 to justify
paying cold hard cash at that price for a product in
used form, and that's why it seems to me that the dealer overpaid.
But maybe the P227 has now become an "IT" gun, something it never was when SIG was still making them.
If I were interested in this package
as an individual, I would probably offer somewhere around $700 to $750, simply because I currently have little faith in the 14 round mags so they have offer no value to me. At that point it's only about a used SIG that shoots a relatively expensive round compared to other caliber options that I already have at my disposal.
As a dealer, my offer would be much lower.

Wasn't there a thread about the cure for the 14 rounder mags ? Spring change maybe ?

Yeah, it now has a small cult following, as it has become somewhat of a collectors item.

Supposedly, SIG fixed the issue, mentioned >
HERE < by colt_saa. Early ones in plastic bags are the problem ones. Later ones in the cardboard boxes are problem-free. But, exactly what they did to fix the problem is unknown.
But, from another board where there is a lot of interest in fixing the issue of the 14-rounder, reports are that Wolff Springs for the Para-Ordnance P14 +10% power have solved the feeding problem. I have no personal experience with this, though. Just passing info along.

Jeepster09I think $800 is low for SAS model in good condition. I wouldn't hesitate to pay that for a nice one. The SAS models are not easy to find for sale.
