I am going to place two Sig pistols on consignment at LGS and would like some opinions on appropriate values:
1. P225-A1(23 Feb 17) 9 mm pistol has been fired but still appears new. Comes in case with everything, but the manual is missing the warranty card.

2. M11-A1(6 Oct 18) 9mm pistol absolutely new direct from Sig factory. I read this pistol was issued to Naval Aviators. Comes with three mags, instruction book, warranty card and lock. Lowest price I have seen on line is $949 but that might be high.

There is nothing wrong with these weapons, I simply have a surplus. This is NOT a ploy to get offers, I plan only to sell on consignment at local shop. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The market is saturated. You'll be doing good to get $650 each.

I’m not big on doing consignments, but I do have one gun at a shop now. It’s also a very slow time of year.

Most shops charge 10-15% of the sales price. Once I factor that in, I can usually do better on Armslist. I recently sold 2 Browning BARs, a 243 & 30-06 on Armslist.

On consignment you usually have to do a background check to get your gun back, if it doesn’t sell.

My current consignment gun is a Japanese Browning A-5 12ga, 26” barrel with removable choke.

Some buyers don’t want to meet in a parking lot for an Armslist sale. I met a friend a few months ago, moving out of the area. He said if I didn’t buy his 3 guns he was heading to Cabelas to take what they offered. I told him I didn’t need them, but would pay a bit more than Cabelas.

We decided to keep the Ithaca(Lewis) double-barrel 16ga.

Online prices vs. local prices can vary, the gun shop you're consigning with should have a good idea what price something will move at.

Consigning is certainly better than selling it to the gun shop, the most money direct to you would be through Gunbroker/Armslist but then you have to deal with a lot of BS.

Keep in mind that you're selling used guns. You will not get a New price.

Excellent, knowledgeable feedback. Thanks to all. The LGS only charges a flat fee of $30.00 for 90 days and so far everything has generally sold in a month. This allows me to lower price a bit, selling the gun and bringing more business into the store. Gun shops are really struggling to stay in business these days.

You need to accept the fact that are going to lose money. If you price the gun so that you recover the consignment fee, it will never sell. There is a lot of competition. Other buyers know about Bud's and GrabAGun.

Grabagun selling M11-A1 for $1045. I was thinking of $849 for a sale price. However, limited market since everyone wants cheaper striker weapons.

I was told that if I had bought a new pistol and never fired it or hardly even touched it and brought it back that they CANNOT sell it as “new” or at a “new” price.

It’s a used gun now, in new condition, but used.

That is what dealers tell customers or they would be taking returns all the time. I think the demarcation point is when the firearm is legally transferred. I will get guidance from the dealer today. Thanks for heads up and reality therapy. The price might have to go down a bit more.

My new M11-A1 is in the LGS priced at $849.
