Gen 4 G31 with two additional mags on my belt, ( as usual ). I carry a small back pack with an extra box of ammo and several more loaded magazines, ( and perhaps a NY reload ).

It typically rides in a basic Serpa belt holster.

I just would not go but if I had to protect or escort family. G19 gen4 and LWRC PSD .223 and 3 mags.

If I'm knowingly going into trouble it'll be with a rifle with plenty of ammo and a pistol as backup, and a bunch of friends with the same... Even if I have to provide the arms.

First, I avoid trouble as much as possible. But, if impossible to do it, then....

By your criteria, my EDC is what I will put in my CCW holster, because my EDC should always be the bet-my-life gun. Makes little sense to take anything else.

Leather? It will be no leather. It will be the Comp-Tac Infidel Max, and the gun will be either one of these two, the P228 or the G19.
And, right at this moment, the P228 is with me.

I carry a P226 daily, wouldn't change it. Avenger style OWB leather, also wouldn't change it.

When I rolled to an active shooter who'd started his little rampage by shooting an officer, I threw on my rifle plate armor and grabbed my AR out of the trunk first.

Should have put my helmet on, too, in hindsight. Didn't matter this time, but I sure noticed how naked my head was before it was done.

Depending on the type of trouble and inside/outside trouble, I would not discount the 870, either.

My regular edc is a 9mm Shield with 2 8rd mags. If we are talking civil unrest, I've got my 228 and my AR with a crap load of mags.
My preference would be to avoid the EBT zombies at all costs.

You know how you know Glock makes a great gun? When no matter what forum / gun guy passion you talk to........most of us still have a Glock for a rainy day or asteroid strike.

I guess the closest to the OP is this year there was some chatter about church attacks by ISIS on Easter. So I rolled with my P226, flush fit 18rd mag, spare mag, Emerson mini commander and upgraded (Malkoff led) surefire 6Z combat light. Change from everyday edc, I usually don't care if the 18rd mag is in the gun or carry a spare mag and light (in the day, beyond my 100 lumen keychain light).

It depends

In the past while overseas I carried 13 mags M16 and an M9.....then as a civilian I have carried a good folder...surefire..and an ASP throughout eastern europe, asia and africa.

As a field tech working in N. and east St. Louis I carried a 1911 and sometimes a 12ga.

As a rural tech I carried a Bulldog and 357mag

Anymore I don't go to such areas but for anything "public" I carry 2-3 mags and a G19 or G17 and a bug. Also I normally carry a bags with 4-6 spare mags and a BOK and pepper spray.

The bug is for my wife, she does not carry but can shoot.

If I had to actually travel in a riot ...post natural disaster type situation I would be carrying my LV4 plates and a G17 with at least 1 rifle and possible a 12ga.

My favorite was when I was a young cpl, I was tasked with picking up 20 M60s from Queens and delivering them to the deployment ramp up at Ft Dix. They issued an M9 with 10 rounds. I pulled the SGM (a grizzled tabbed out gentleman) and asked what he would suggest I bring.

He "suggested" I bring "whatever I thought prudent" I ended up with my normal battle load out of 13 mags. Driving through Queens with a loaded M16 and the driver asks if we can stop for lunch.

I then explained that if we stopped we would have to post security and the resulting noise might be a bad thing

we hit the drive through

I'll break the mold here and go with a precision rifle. If I'm going where trouble is, I'd rather engage from a long ways away.

As for leather, buttless chaps really let the air out while laying prone. Just don't forget the sunscreen.

maybe have the 'prairie belt' I have full of shells too,,,,


walk up to said house all non chalant like and help the neighbors, not starting nothing until something is started?

if friends are available, have them at a distance with an accurate rifle,,,,

Only time I'm doing that is if hear a predator around the chicken coup. Quick reaction dictates I grab my house gun which is a 4.5" XDm 9mm with 20rds of 124gr +p gold dots and a TLR-1 HL light.

I went in harm's way many times in a 40+ year career. Now I try to avoid it.

With that said, prepare for trouble and hope to avoid it every time I walk out the door so I always have the same P220 on my side.
