Just picked up one of these. I really like it. Just to confirm all Signs point to yes but wanted to make sure. Barrels are same as a 220, holster modularity fits 226 and 220 correct? END TRANSMISSION................

The only differences with the P220 are: grips, grip frame area, and mags. Q

Magazines seem to be the challenge. I got one at the beginning of the Year of the 'Rona and have yet to get one of the unicorn Sig OEM 14 rounder mags.

The 14 rounders are problematic. Avoid them “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

It appears that only the early 14 rounders were problematic. My original three were swapped out with later manufactured ones and they have been trouble free The trick is to find someone that knows how to tell them apart. I gave my old ones up before the new ones arrived so I could not compare them ------------------------------------------------------------------ NRA Benefactor . . . Certified Instructor . . . I find the P227s a pleasure to shoot. I was just kinda curious about the 14 rounders. It's kinda like the smoking crazy hot woman that all your friends warn you about- but you just can't resist...

I agree about the 14rd mags and its woes; something about how the extensions caused the mag spring to snag as the compression on the spring is relieved during live fire use. On a fully loaded mag, I recall the magical number was around 5 or 6 shots, then the spring would get caught up and it would stop feeding any further rounds. I shot a customer P227 and experienced the problem with both of his two 14rd mags. However it apparently wasn't a universal issue. I had others customers who claimed that at least some of their 14 round mags worked fine. Not sure if those experiences would lead anyone into believing that those working mags are truly trustworthy. At some point that spring will wear out and the new replacement (assuming a person can actually find one) might possibly cause the problem to show up. Who knows for sure at this point, since the gun is gone from the lineup and the mags in general are in the wind. SIG's solution at the time for those problematic extended mags was to replace them with the fairly reliable 10rd magazines. Straight swap if I remember correctly from posts here on the forum, which at the time seemed unfair to me because the 14rd mags were more expensive at retail. -MG

I have a P227 Carry and really like it. The E2 grips make it a pleasure to shoot. Too bad this gun never took off. I found that P229R holster work best for the Carry model. ----------------------------- Always carry. Never tell.

Great suppressor host. Keep the 14-round mags for range use, though only one of my 14's have given me any trouble.

For most SIG owners the grip feel and looks is a critical issue. Most 227 owners on forums swap the E2 stocks for bolt ons. Maybe they are the traditional conservative individuals. I have found a great way to clean dead skin out of my E2 grips. The clean look without screws appeals to me. (never having rusty screws) I already spent extra for Para Ord 10%+ springs as replacements for my 14 rd. mags. So I can live with E2 stocks.I prefer the Extra grippy feel, as I actually carry my P227 on rural excursions. A few extra rounds in the Mag. & a secure purchase on the pistol, may save someone's life . It might even be my life. Never judge a man, till you have walked a mile in his shoes..... That way, you'll be a mile away from him; and you'll have his shoes.

Every day is New Year's Day for Calendar Boy! Oh, and I'm BANNED |
The slide and everything in it is exactly the same as a P220 in 45. Obviously the frame is different at least in the grip. Most, if not all holsters made for a P220/P226 (of same barrel length) will fit a P227. Most holsters made for a P229R will fit a P220 or P227 Carry. There is a difference though so you need to check. I have a P220 SAO Carry and a Milt Sparks VMII for it, my P229R fits nicely in it because leather is a tad bit forgiving of slight differences. My P220 SAO Carry is a bit loose in my Bravo Concealment P229R holster. I had a P227 for quite a while. Good gun, but the 2 extra rounds didn't warrant the larger grip for me so I sold my P227. I love my SIGs but for "Hi-Cap" 45s I have a Glock 21 (13rnd) and an FN FNX 45 (15rnd) that I actually shoot better so my P227 was just sitting around in the safe. Cool thing about P220s and P227s is that since the slide is identical you can mix and match different models. (as long as the caliber is all 45.)
