I know a regular mag release will wear if using metal mags such as the Shield in the gun. I have a Glock 43X frame with a Zaffiri slide, barrel and, darn it, a metal mag release. My question is this: I have heard regular Glock mags will not reliably drop free or, perhaps, quickly wear if used in a gun with the metal mag release. Is that correct? Second question: If I want to use the regular Glock 10 rounders, do I need to get a standard mag release for my gun? Bob

If you’re runnin shield mags you should get a aftermarket metal mag release. The metal mags will chew up the factory release. I have sticky issues if I use the 10 rounder mags. "da evil Count Glockula."-Para

I had a metal mag release when all I used were Shield mags, I put the OEM mags in the car as spares. Now that I switched to PSA mags, I put the polymer release back in and boxed the Shield metal mag release with the Shield mags. Might eventually buy a 48 and dedicate the Shield stuff to that. I have the metal release. I need to know if that release will hurt or damage the regular Glock mags. I'm not a fan of the 15 round Shield mags, I like the weight of the 10 rounders and carry an extra 10 rounder. If the metal mag release will damage the original Glock mags, I will get rid of it. the Shield mag is an easy sell if I get rid of my metal release. Bob

My understanding is that Glock recommends against using a metal release for their poly mags. For this reason, CROMUSA offers a poly mag release for the Ruger PC Carbine using the Glock mag well.

Metal on polymer; eventually the metal is going to wear out the plastic. Once and a while, no problem. You can switch out the metal mag release for a plastic one. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Yes it will. You need to put a polymer mag release back in if you are using Glock mags. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

CROMUSA wants $39.99 for that poly mag release, plus $45 for FedEx shipping. It's the only shipping option that comes up on their site. $85 for a plastic mag catch? Not in this lifetime. I could get eight P-mags for that. How long would it take to wear them all out?

That price seems just insane to me. I resolved my issue by trading the Zaffiri for another Shadow Systems CR920. BTW, on the Shadow Systems-the prices vary quite a lot for different models. Shadow Systems has now said that the only differences between the guns is the cosmetic differences on the slide. So, for example, their Combat CR920 is exactly the same as the Elite CR920 or Warrior Poet CR920-the difference being only the different shape of the cuts on the slide and, of course, the lower price. I picked up an Elite CR920 yesterday that the owner had shot, turning it into a used gun and making the price so nice I just could not walk away. Other than that Smith SD9VE I wrote about a few days ago and a couple-three LCRs I'm strictly into Glocks and Shadow Systems. I like the weight of both and the holsters interchange as do the SnagMags. I like to think I am all set! Bob
