Okay, so I haven't handled a new P226 in a while. Mine are 20+ years old and I'm thinking about getting a new one in 9mm. The last new pistol I bought was a P220 when the 10mm was released. Wanted to hear what your thoughts are about each model. I voted legion... even though it is a hard call.

If the stock MK25 grips are acceptable, the choice is easier. But if you’re going to spend $100 for G10’s regardless, the basic Nitron model is more tempting.

If you’re eligible for the LE-only black Legions, that might be the best option.

I voted Legion, but if I was getting a new 226 it would be the new Custom Works Equinox.

Well this is a tough one. I only have two of these. One Navy and one Legion. Legion has more features I like.

you didn't say what action. DA/SA get a MK25. But you can get an SAO legion and depending on what is your need, that can be a huge plus.

I picked up a 226 Legion in the spring, defying my Governors stay at home order, and that thing is a masterpiece!!

I have a Legion SAO and actually am looking to get rid of it for a Navy or other short extractor sig.

The reason being I am interested in millimg it for an RMR and the legion’s slide has quite a bit of material relieved internally to lighten the slide.

When I reached out to a shop to have it milled for the RMR they informed me they would not be able to do it because there is not enough material there.

From what I remember, the older Sigs with short extractors had quite a bit more metal in the rear areas of the slide.

I don't like the beavertail on the legions so navy or mk25 for me.

I have the Legion SAO and I must say it has the best factory trigger I have ever had. It is my go to shooter. You will not be disappointed!!

It doesn't matter to me as long it is the best deal. The Legions are nice but too pricey for me. I got a MK25 earlier this year pretty cheap as it was a Cali. edition and the dealer I got it from could not sell it. I removed the magazine disconnect parts and bought some full cap. mags and I couldn't be happier with it. As it is now, the Cali. editions are commanding higher prices than the standard model but I still won't sell it. It is a great gun and won't be able to get another for what I paid.

I have only owned one SIG P226 9mm with an aluminum frame. I gifted it to a friend, a new shooter. I just didn't like the balance.
Then I got a SIG P226ST in 9mm. What an expensive mistake that was!
They multiply like rabbits. Stainless Steel rabbits...

If you haven't ever shot a P226ST in 9mm, try one out first before you get something new.
I also like the SIG P226 Stainless Elite's with the beavertail.
And the all stainless P220's in 10mm, also the Stainless Match Elite's in .45 and the P220ST's.
German stainless frames are preferred (by me) but as you know the US stainless frame guns are darn nice also.

I have the P226 Legion SAO and when SIG had a sale on their Legion RX caliber exchange kit I picked one up. I had the 25% coupons from when I sent them my P320s in for the voluntary recall, and with the sale, it wasn't such a hit. I use the original slide when I'm shooting suppressed. The slide also fits on my other P226s, including the X5s & LDC.

I own all three. I would have to say if I had to choose only one, I would keep the Legion.

Of those 3 I would go navy. Look at the 226 extreme. A lot of features and usually cheaper on GB.

I think he might have meant PVD, though I could be wrong. But that finish is inconsistent; lots of complaints about it being fast wearing on the Legions, plus there was inconsistency in application QC early on.

As for which P226 I would choose, no question it would be the Mk25. Same reason as Q cites. Plus it comes with a cute 'lil anchor tatted on its flanks! Whattabonus! How can anyone possibly beat that?

Of course an older P226 with a small extractor would be a great alternative. Or one with a folded pre-stainless slide.
