P320 Drop Safety in Question (Formerly DPD Recall thread)

Do they leave that area uncoated or recoat the slide?
One of my slides is cerakoted grey and the other is an FDE model.
The FDE gun they could coat of course, but not the cerakoted one.

Even with a factory finish, I would be surprised if they refinish the slides. I might be wrong, but I wouldn't expect it. That would really be going above and beyond.

If the new trigger is hollowed out in the rear to lighten it, the new design might not lend itself to installing a tab, and hopefully it's no longer necessary anyway.

The way Sig answers this question in their FAQ leads me to believe there is no change to the grip module itself. The calx kits come with grip modules, slide/bbl, and mags, and they specifically say "send any and all slides". I would like to see them specifically address grip modules in the FAQ, though.

What about my CAL-X Kits?
You should send any and all P320 slides with your shipment, as the striker(s) will be replaced, and the slide(s) will need the disconnector cut.

Also, when I watch the Recoil video I hear:
"...they'll also see an additional part which is the disconnect... the frame itself has to have an additional cut put in it, the sear housing that holds everything together has to have additional room put in it so that part can fit in there, as well as the slide, the slide now gets a notch so that fits into that notch."

Unless he's referring to the whole FCU as the "sear housing", I believe when he says "frame" he is referring to the FCU. I could certainly be wrong.

I was curious so I checked a parts list. The "sear housing assembly" is its own part within the FCU, so I'm really thinking we're safe with the grip modules.

So does the P320 NOT have a disconnect mechanism in it's current form? I thought the trigger bar dropped out of engagement when the slide started to move rearward?

Thanks for the exploded FCU diagram. Where did you find it? It's not in my 2015 manual or the most recent Sig P320 on-line manual.

I googled "p320 parts diagram" and its one of the top results under images. It came from Pinterest, of all places. I suppose we'll need an updated one that reflects the new parts/changes!

Cool. Thanks.

A handgun “frame” is the part that bears the serial number, and in the P320 that means the U-shaped piece that holds the trigger and sear mechanisms. “Fire control unit” could legitimately refer to the entire assembly that includes the frame, but the frame, as usual, is only the part that holds everything together. Many people, including, unfortunately, those who should know better, are careless about using the proper terminology for gun parts, but if a knowledgeable person refers to the “frame,” that’s probably what he means.

Thanks, Nipper, for the information on how to mute a specific tab; and thanks as well to the posters who removed the offending video.

The direct links posted for Sig's site all say "Error 404 page not found".

Most manufactures put 'recall' info on their front page or at least mention it with a link.

Am I the only one who's having issues FINDING the info on their site?

Omaha Outdoors just posted a followup video in which they talk about the feedback they got. They also drop test half a dozen other pistols to disprove the ol' "any other pistol would go off when dropped like this" myth.

Guess Sig is so swamped with recall request they have taken the site down. When you try to register for it the page gives you an error message.

I'm talking about finding the details of what their doing/providing for the upgrades.

I can't find anything on their site, on it, at all?

It came up earlier but has been taken down now. Guess they are swamped or something. I am trying to get back to it/find it again.

Does anyone know if any after market sights need to be removed?

I was able to get on and submit my pistol serial number earlier today. Must have gotten in JIT.

No description of what they are going to do but I see no reason why they can't just have everybody pull their chassis out and just send them in.

What need for the whole gun if the issue is trigger related?

I guess unless the slide itself is part of the fix?

Do we know if the problem is limited to the parts in the chassis?

The slide is part of the fix

The slide needs a cut for the new disconnector.

I called them this morning and was told that they wouldn't be messing with sights. But that is coming from a CS rep, and last week I was told by one that they didn't know who Omaha Outdoors was and that the 320 was 100% drop safe.
I don't say that to be an ass, just making the point that they are only CS reps and don't actually perform the work, so he might have told me wrong. The guy on the phone sounded knowledgeable though.
Also, If anyone cares, they are leaving the milled area unfinished, which isn't a big deal since the slides are stainless, but just something I thought to ask.
