kyoungWent to the darkside..Hk P30l
Well a local company that made accessories for pistols had like 50 new pistols for sale and I picked up a brand new HK P30L in 9mm last night. No ffl or tax I like it.I have never shot an Hk so i am looking forward to it. It is the variant 3 with no safety DA/SA with a decocker on the back.

dehughesI had that exact same pistol as well as the non-L version. Both were excellent but I preferred the L, but only slightly as it was a little more accurate and a little better balanced than the non-L version. Fantastic pistols, fantastic build quality, but in the end the VP9 shot better for me and felt better overall as I was getting hammer bite from both P30 variants.
Regardless, you have a very fine pistol. Enjoy it!

copaupCongratulations. I've got a p30 and to be honest I like it A LOT more than I thought I would. The more I handle it, the more I like it. DA on mine isn't great, but it isn't terrible either. SA is actually pretty good. Gun feels great in the hand and shoots where I point it.

nocturnalcreationsCongrats! I have a P30sk LEM took a little while to get used to but love the trigger now. Should have bought a P30L in LEM before all this started I can’t find a good priced one anymore!

FlyingScotCongratulations love the platform. Have a P30SK V1 and love to shoot it. My wife does too and that doesn’t always work out for me

cslingerWonderful pistol if you can get past the trigger reset which in today’s striker fired or bust world stymies the hell out of a lot of folks.
Keep in mind most HKs are on the verge if oversprung out of the box and the rails have a plastic flashing or coating on them that will wear. Both of these things might mean you will have some issues with 115 grain powder puff stuff out of the box. Clean and lube well out of the box and run a box or three of hotter and or heavier for caliber ammo down the pipe to loosen it up. (You may not have any issues but if you do see above).
If you are unable to source ammo to do the above these days. Work the slide a bunch in dry fire and leave the slide locked back for a few days when storing.
Again you may have no issues but 9mm HKs specifically can need a little break in before they will reliably run the crap we all like to run at the range.

Take Care, Shoot Safe,
Chris

drshameHave two P-30sk's, one full DA'SA Safety-DeCocker.....one LE no safety and LE DA Trigger system.
Build quality first class with great ergonomics.
BUT the DA trigger pull is horrible and both don't group well past 7 yards in my hands.
For the $$$, a S&W Shield with Apex Trigger systems feel and shot better for me. And the .45 Shield with the Apex Upgrades is a very accurate and potent CCW for me.
By the way, Im a competitive NRA HighPower Sharpshooterand my Target Pistols are all hammers. So when I complain about HK P-30Sk Accuracy...I shot enough to know how much I suck...and how much the platform does. The P-30Sk is a great backup platform that does a very good job at what it's made for. But as a general range gun for target work...it's a very pricey platform with a heavy-combat grade trigger. In a great design built like a tank!

CD228We had 6 of the standard P30s as range guns at the MWR range I used to help out at. They all ran great. The only issues I directly observed was a novice operator accidentally dropping their magazine because they where unfamiliar with the H&K mag release. The trigger was good, but as mentioned not awe inspiring. However, the trigger is completely adequate, functional and safe for most shooting tasks. Accuracy was good, even with cheap range ammo (magtech). As mentioned, there where no functional issues.
I did see a couple in Polezi holsters when I was stationed in Germany. They seemed to wear well and none showed any visable issues.

fullmannI just picked up a P30LS myself, fiddled around with it and really like the feel and balance. Just couldn’t sell myself on the safety. So I sold it and nabbed a P30L, I’m really happy that I did. I have a feeling that there’s a regular P30 and a sk in my future

hberttmankGood pistol, but I am an HK fanboy. I have a P30LS bought new in 2014. I much prefer being able to use cocked and locked instead of the long heavy first DA trigger pull. Still a good pistol which ever version. And a big plus is it uses the same mags as my VP9.

kaschiYou will love that pistol! I bought a P30S last year and do not regret having done so. The P30S has a decocker lever and dual-sided safety levers that function like a 1911. It fits me like a glove.

45ProCarryI have the exact same pistol. It is a superb pistol. Very accurate, easy to shoot, feeds everything. Eventually, I will buy a spare just like it.

kyoungWell i took it apart and cleaned and lubed, changed the grip panels to large and got some S&B 124 grn to run through it today if it quits raining. I shoot at my house! I noticed that this gun fits pretty darn good in my Rgrizzle holster for a Sig 226 Tacops.

Jimmo952It's one of the best feeling pistols out there. Superior ergonomics and build quality.

HKAngusKLI know that ammo is scarce and expensive at the moment, but I found that my P30L needed about 100 rds of +p 124 gr ammo to break in. Before that, the p30L was not cycling 115 gr wwb and blazer brass reliably. Odd thing is that my p2000 required zero break in and runs everything I feed it.
I think the counterweight and recoil spring system in the P30L is probably the culprit.

grumpy1Love my 2012 vintage P30L.
I changed hammer spring from 12LB factory installed to 10LB from Wolff and put in HK lighter FPBS and DA trigger pull is great and smooth all the way through with no stacking at around 8.5 LBs and SA was always nice around 4 LBs. Never a problem with any ammo including S&B known to have harder primers. I never had a problem with mine even before I changed springs using 115 grain ammo out of the box. It is important to lube pistol correctly though including entire length of each slide rail and the barrel exterior which many seem to neglect to do.
