| I have lots of experience with the CED and the PocketPro. Years and multiple units. I would normally recommend the CED 7000 if price wasn't your biggest concern. But I have no experience and I can say I would be a skeptic that any shot timer would do well in indoor ranges with lanes nearby. I don't know if you could borrow one to try before you invest. I bet no brand does well in that environment.

| I have used several of the popular models. The CED7000 has been my favorite thus far. I like the size and access to combined mode for timing multi-string drills without having to calculate. I think the AMG Commander is promising but I never catch them in stock. |

I've read of both of those units and have watched some video of the units at work. None of those are of indoor range situations but their literature says they will work. I don't see how. Unfortunately I've not seen another member at my range use one while I was there. I agree with you and I'm skeptical they work in the indoor range environment. |

| CED and the Pocket Pro does have a sensitivity setting. That might help but the echoing in an indoor range will be a big problem. |

| I'm really doubtful you can get a good sound pickup with many active lanes near you, at least in the type of indoor ranges I shoot in during the winter. But a couple of lane buffer and you might be fine. Due to Covid around here they are not allowing capacity so I'm pretty confident that you could get a modestly good result in a near empty range (absent the echo's which are a constant you can work around). But even if that doesn't work out you can still use the Par time functions, so you can do some timed work with feedback. Like draw to first shot or 3 rounds or whatever you are trying to accomplish.

| I was faced with the very same question recently. When I asked on a local forum, most recommended a free app for iPhone rather than the $100.00+ shot timer. I went with "Shottimer". I really wish I could tell you how great it is, (or not) but every time I've gone to the range since I got it, I forgot I had it. Middle Age Sucks! Either way, if you have cell service at the range, it might be an inexpensive starting point. After all, you could just as easily buy the real shot timer next week.

| I tried one of the cell phone apps. It didn't work.
I have the Competition Electronics Pocket Pro II, which I got mostly because it's what we use at the local range. Another range across town uses the CED, which I don't really like.
To me, it's about making a "beep." I don't look at the times much, and couldn't give a stuff about "split times" or any other features. For me, a loud beep and big, easy to use controls are most useful. |

| I've tried the apps. They're sort of ok if you're outside, can fine tune the settings, and live with it sometimes registering a shot twice. Or not at all. Or five times. The beep is also never anywhere near as loud as a real shot timer. |

| I looked at the pact club timer, and tried one, but the size and shape was awkward for me, even when timing someone else.
There's nothing sleek or sexy about the pocket pro II, but it's hard to lose, loud, and operate, without dropping. |
