New Colt Python Revolvers

I bought A 6" and then a 4.25 back in late 2021 and find them excellent revolvers. Only weak point is the rear sight, which I replaced with Wilson Combat sights. Mind you I am not a revolver experts but I am very happy with them.

Bought a 4.25 inch stainless couple of years ago on an impulse buy. Fine revolver, the trigger was great and fit/finish was nice.

There was a QC problem with the issued stocks (the medallions fell off) but Colt sent replacements after I sent back the originals.

Regardless, I put a nice Hogue Goncalo Alves stocks on the gun.

Ended up selling it, safe queen, got what I paid. My working revolvers (carry or field) are j frames, k frames, and Rugers.

Personally I can't get past the 2D QR/dot code, or the "wrong" shape to the trigger. I realize it's a very petty gripe.

The wiggling rear sight ruined it for me and I sold mine awhile back before ever shoout. The trigger was gritty also. I never owned an original Python though.

I'm happy with my 3 inch. Shoots well, feels great in the hand. Not impressed with the new "blue" finish, though.

I sold a friend a new 4.25” blued one that had a bad spot in the bluing that both we and he missed.

No matter, he contacted Colt, returned it for service. They replaced it for him.

This is the first blued new production example that we've had in.

My opinion only but I still don't like the triple 'vents' in the rib and Colt seriously needs more practice time and not production time at proper polishing of the bluing. From this example of one, so far it seems that they're a bit better at curves than the flat surfaces, although none of this compares particularly well to the bluing of the original production blued Pythons. Even the bluing of my 80s vintage Python is noticeably smoother and visually nicer to a quite obvious higher level, which is saying a bit since the later 80s and 90s bluing work isn't considered the high water mark period during the original run of the Python.

I agree, monoblok. They need to work on their technique.

Bought the stainless 4.25” model about two years ago. Well made and a great shooter - wiggly rear sight notwithstanding. I never could get the sight to stay tight so I replaced it with a Wilson Combat rear sight which has been excellent and very easy to install. Shame that it was necessary.

I bought a 4" a little while back and the trigger pull is nothing short of amazing. Very smooth transition throughout the entire pull. I don't have an issue, fortunately, with the rear sight.

The blued models I have seen don't look so well. Nothing like the days of old.

It truly does look like someone hit it with spray paint. Very disappointing from Colt.

I saw a new blue Python recently. The blue, to me, didn't look terrible, but it obviously didn't compare to the Royal Blue on the original guns. Like the new stainless Pythons I've looked at, the double action was very nice and smooth, but the single action trigger pull way heavier than it should be. For some reason, the new King Cobras seem to have nicer triggers to me.
