I know the 97B is a double stack, but they are both all steel .45s. So, how do they compare to those who have shot both? This message has been edited. Last edited by: SIGWolf,

Pretty obvious answer but I have shot the 97 that belongs to a buddy quite a bit. It is an outstanding gun. But its weight and slight increase in capacity over the 220 made it a no go for EDC for me. While I have not fully retired my 1998 circa 220 yet, I went with the P320 45 Compact. Same capacity as the 97, but smaller and lighter for EDC. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

97B is larger and heavier, the P220s I own are alloy framed so they're noticeably lighter. Both guns are super reliable, never a problem with either one.

Yeah most P220s are alloy frame. Have not shot a 97B but for me the P220 single stack grip is perfection and the 97B grip on the fat side.

97b 41.3 oz P220 30.4 oz, but that’s the model with rail. I don’t see a non-rail version on sigs website. Sig has a much better trigger. Love my Sigs but carry my Glocks

FWIW, SIG's website claims an all-steel 220 Stainless Elite weighs 39.1 ounces. I suppose a regular 220ST might be marginally lighter. Since the OP's looking at "all steel" pistols

As much as I like the P220, I actually shoot the CZ better. But, they're both great, I'm happy with either... what's 3 lbs For Comparison... P220 ST, Fully Loaded, 8+1 CZ 97 BD, Fully Loaded, 10+1 Another one you might want to consider... Obviously, not all steel, has an alloy frame, 1/2 lb. lighter. Very nice comparison. Where did you get the grips on the SAS and the P220ST?

Thanks, didn't make that clear, comparing P220 ST with the 97B or 97DB

I replaced the SAS 'E' grips with the Hogue Piranha grips. They come with the threaded bushings and screws. The grips on the ST are the checkered aluminum grips. They were selling the white, unfinished ones on eBay, NIB, for $55. I bought several sets and sent them to CCR and had them refinished in their House Black @ $20/set. As usual, they did a great job. I think the trigger on the CZ 97 is better than the P220 out of the box. It's definitely bulkier than the P220 with the double stack. If I was carrying one, I'd take the P220. I traded a P229 Stainless Elite for a Cajun Gun Works 97B package with the bushing and trigger modifications and it's not even comparable to the SIGs. It's like a high end 1911 with an ugly exterior....very accurate, buttery smooth trigger, etc. I ended up cutting the slides for adjustable sights and it makes a good range toy. I've found the throat is a little shorter (my two examples) than a lot of American guns, so you could have issues with longer reloads, particularly SWC.

Both are great reliable shooters but personally for my medium sized hands, I shoot the 220ST a lot better. But of course, mine are a full LTT custom and an Ernest Langdon model, both with Warren rears, Dawson FO fronts, short reach triggers, SRT and Hogue G-10 piranhas. Sorry, I still don't do pics! The 97B was stock. So possibly apples and oranges but I also shot my stock 220 carry better. For carry, I prefer the thinner single stack in either a 5 Shot Leather SME or Milt Sparks Nexus. Spare mags carry flatter on the belt too or disappear in your pocket; avoiding the "is that a double stack in your pocket or are you that glad to see me?" queries...
