All Glock Mags Are Compatible Across The Generations……Right??? Login/Join

Barring the 19x floorplate / lip issue all Glock Mags should be compatible across platforms correct? So I can stick a Gen 5 19 mag in a Gen 3 26 or 19 and it’s all good or a Gen 3 or 4 mag in a Gen 5 gun etc. I thought this was the case and I haven’t seen an issue on my part although I don’t have a ton of rounds across platforms like this.

The reason I ask is I was doing some reading and came across something saying the Gen 5 stuff was not cross compatible for some reason with the earlier mags.

Am I crazy or shouldn’t they all be cross compatible, barring the G19x off course?

Thanks all.
Chris

as long as the gun is configured for right hand mag release use, then yes.

Thank you. I was just having one of those “well maybe I am wrong/let’s reboot my system moment”. Smile

Yes, with two caveats:

A) If you swap your Gen 4/5 mag release over to left handed use, you cannot use earlier Gen 1/2/3 mags. They only have cutouts for right handed mag releases.

B) There's a small number of special Gen 3 G21s with a true 1913 rail and an ambi mag release that cannot use all G21 mags. They require mags with the horizontal cutout catch on the front.

Third caveat: they also made some Gen 3 21SFs with the ambi release and the Glock rail.

The 19X will not work with the 17 round Gen 5 mags because of the floor plate.

Thanks again all. I was aware of all the “one offs” or ambi stuff. I was just making sure the basically cross compatibility was intact like I believed it was.
