SIG SAUER GMBH P226 NXT
https://simpsonltd.com/products/Z76650

Caliber: 9mm Luger | Blue: 100% | Bore: like new | Barrel: 4.25 | The Sig that never was! This is one of five prototypes produced and intended to be showcased at the German IWA 2020 Outdoor Classics Trade Fair that year. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the P226 model and its success. However, the covid pandemic caused the cancellation of the Fair and shut down production at the factory. And production of the 226 NXT was cancelled. In the end, one production prototype was made and five "0" series guns were finished, numbers 042171, 024172, 024173, 024174 and 024175. This was the first finished, serial 042171. Some of the differences the NXT model was to offer was a newly designed slide, frame and its trigger guard and grip shapes, lightweight trigger and hammer, and new ergonomically optimized grips. This #1 of 5 example is in new condition. Factory plastic case with matching serial numbered outer box, manual and extra magazine. Also includes the factory letter signed by Sig Sauer head of sales Hendrik Giessler.

$25,000.00

Now if they could make that but with a polymer frame, now we're talking. Make it something to rival the P30.

I remember I was really looking forward to that one, especially since Legacy Sports had signed an exclusive import deal with SIG Sauer GmbH. It’s a shame it never reached production.

There’s no reason SIG NH cannot start making it.

The P226X Legion is their version of this gun. I'm just not sure if they've announced when they'll be released or pricing.

I see a skeletonized trigger and hammer and some new grips. Anything else that distinguishes this from any other P226?

The undercut in the frame around the middle finger looks interesting to me as you could get a little lower bore axis in the grip. The trigger guard is also different but doesn't do anything for me. Based on the radii, it looks like it was all CNC machined vs. forged (makes sense for prototype).
I think better fitting/polishing and light geometry upgrades of the action to improve DA/SA would be most fitting for P226 generation update. It's a decent platform already. I personally prefer the CZ 75 platform with the lower bore axis and improved action and Gray guns updates help close the gap...so why not SIG from the factory?
