PSA Glock 19 clone. Anyone have one?
I’ve been looking at Palmetto State Armory’s Dagger Compact 9MM SW1 RMR pistol. It looks like a straight up clone of a Glock 19.

They routinely offer package deals with 10 mags for $350-450.

Does anyone here have one? If so what are your thoughts on the pistol?

They certainly have a lot of upper options available. Some of them look quite interesting.

I handled one of the very early ones and was not impressed at all.

With that out of the way I have a family member with 2 of them and they are night and day better then the early one I handled and he is very pleased with them. I am guessing the one I handled was one of the very first and they were working out the bugs.

I bought a lower and an SW 4 upper with threaded barrel during Dagger days, paid under $280 tax shipping and transfer fee. Absolutely love mine, accurate, reliable and lots of upgrade parts cheap. I have shot but never owned Glocks because I just did not like the way they pointed. This just feels really good to me, some say the weak point is the trigger but mine feels good to me, if not upgrades are plentiful.

Must be the camera angle but that gap between upper and lower does not look that bad in reality.

I have a plain Jane compact Dagger. So far it's been 100% out of just over 300 rounds. I undercut the trigger guard a bit and put a f/o front sight on it and it's a keeper. The grip feels really good and locks your hands in good and high.

I have 2. They are hard to beat for the price.

It seems to me that price is the only thing these have going for them.

Variety and endless options. They have that going for them too. Wink.

Gold barrels, stainless barrels, cut out slides, blue/rainbow finished barrels and strange stuff like that.

They have barrels that almost resemble the cheap off brand fart can exhaust that came courtesy of the previous owner on my Integra with the stainless/blue fade. Eek

You won’t ever get bored if you like various finishes and slide designs with PSA. Big Grin

If you like options and color combos PSA has you covered and for a tempting price too.

It is interesting what PSA is doing. If you look at their website they tend to offer MUCH more affordable pistol and rifle variants of popular brands and at a fraction of the cost. It reminds me a lot of what the micro brand watch world does when it comes to drawing inspiration from proven designs. Some might call it intellectual theft while others might say it is the sincerest form of flattery….

For example they have a Benelli M4 clone that is about 1/4 the price and is advertised as 100% compatible with Benelli M4 components. Although to be completely fair that one is not advertised as a PSA branded shot gun.

What sold me was all the positive Youtube videos and torture tests. Plus they had optic cut slides since I was wanting to try out a reddot for my old aging eyes.

Too bad you can't find any such tests with Glocks.

Buddy of mine has one in FDE with a RDS on it, threaded compact model, whatever the G19 size is called.

It shot better for me than numerous G19s I've tried in the past.

RDS wasn't sighted in, but the tall sights were usable through it.

I've been tempted, but I'm eligible for the Glock Blue Label program. Most of the more basic guns, such at the G19, list on the discount at 425. That's not 280, but it's pretty cheap and Glock is one of the guns I carry for self-defense. If I ever went with a dagger, it would be a range toy. I doubt I will.

I have 3 off these and I like them. They are reliable and cheap. I keep 2 for by the door guns and one a car gun. There fit and finish are good but they don’t replace the Glock for me.

I can’t say anything thing but good things. You can’t go wrong with them

While I really dislike the magwell cutouts on the Dagger they really got the rest of the grip shape right. There is a bit of a palm swell and enough extra material up high so that your thumb isn't riding the slide stop quite as much as you do on a Glock frame.
I really hope they will come out with an update that doesn't have the goofy cut outs and adds a bit of a magwell or at least makes it compatible with the Magpul Gen 3 magwells.

^^^^ There are flared magwells for the Dagger on Ebay for about $20.00 that look good and fill in the cutouts.

I have one with a regular slide and also have an optic slide that I change back and forth. Shot it quite a bit and no issues at all. One of the more accurate guns, at least with the red dot on it that I shoot. Lightweight but very mild recoil. I’ve had many glocks and they never really fit my hand as well as this one does. I sold all the glocks and enjoy shooting this one a lot. For the price, that makes it even better. I wish every manufacturer made optic ready slides for the price they charge.

I see the ads come up for them frequently and I can understand why people would be drawn to them based on performance for the price point though I have never wanted to acquire one. I have no problems with the stock Glock 19, in any generation, but especially the gen 5. I don’t need a more ergonomic grip, lightening cuts, etc., etc., and the cost savings is not that big of a deal to me. A Glock 19 is not a high priced gun in the grand scheme of things, and for what I get with decades of track record and my own personal experience it’s worth it to have the Gold Standard.

PSA is doing great things and I have bought a lot from them over the years with virtually no issues, I just don’t need or want a knock off Glock. It’s funny because I love my Canik Mete SF, which is a knock off Walther, essentially, so I’m not against the cheaper alternatives.

I see quite a few of them come through the shop/range I work at. Seem to be fine. Sort of like the old Taurus 38 specials vs the S&W 36.
Cheaper than my Lone Wolf, which was just another Glock knock off several years earlier. I like the LW, but don’t carry it. When you can get the Glock or Sig, might as well just carry the original.

That's like saying why buy a 1911 or an AR when you can just buy the Colt. It's because other companies do things better and/or different and/or cheaper.

My brother has one, loves it. I've had one range session with it, less than 100rds but I was impressed for the price he paid.
