bendableSpringfield Armory 5" XD in .45 acp
The local gun store is calling in Monday to get a couple in.
Has anyone here purchased one, shot one, seen one in real life?
I like my 9mm XD a bunch.
P.s.
They have a "special" on their website
Free extra mags and a nyloncarry case with purchase
Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency.

amcI've never had one but a friend had one that I shot a few times. The 5 inch 45 is a big gun but shoots well and a fun range gu. XDs are good but I never really warmed up to them.

Lord VaalicI had one and I loved it. Sold it and regret it. It was a nice shooter

mr kablammoI have the XD 9mm Tactical and its great. When the .45 caliber was introduced the inventory at McBrides in Austin, TX sold out in a day or two. Consequently I was unable to buy the .45 and eventually I gave up. IIRC, the .45 was the 'handgun of the year' for several gun entities. So I do not have personal experience but that was a heck of a popular gun.

Same here.
I kind of regret selling every XD and XDm I had.
I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

bendableWill go check it out if and when he gets'em.
I've been trying to think about concern I might address.
But since I have none with my 9mm , I wanted to check here.
Thanks for the help

Lord Vaalicthe .45 is soft shooting in the 5 inch. I loved the ergos, it was accurate, and it never gave me any issues.
With the current 3 free mags offer going on, its a great deal. I may even pick up another myself, because I do miss it.

bendableThe other reason I ask here on the forum:
The place I might purchase it from is a mile away from Springfield in Geneseo.
He said that there hasn't been a demand for this particular gun.
So Iam trying to figure out what. What's not to like?
Other than they made some controversial decisions on the past.

The main bitch by the XD haters are the fact the firing pin retaining pin isn't staked, and it has a grip safety.
I've shot the 5" XD Tactical before and I was literally one of the softest shooting .45s I've ever shot. Damn near bought one as a result.

My LGS is tripping over Springfields too. He seems to have quite an inventory of most guns.
I think a lot of people just aren't buying right now with everything else being so expensive.

Badkarma 1Had a 5 inch “Tactical” model (or at least that what they called it), good shooting piece, most comfortable grip for a double stack .45, tended to eat anything save the light target loads, it’s big but manageable, tends to flip a bit more than say a 1911.
Liked mine so much I bought the little XDs in .45 as a summer gun.

45 CalI have had that in 45 ,and 40[3] still have the 45 and one 40 I gave away 2 of the 40's
I open carries the 45 for a couple decades but now carry the 5/7.
The 5/7 is lighter and milder shooting recoil wise

Nobody seems to have the SA-35 though, or at least none at a decent price

gruntjimI had one of the early ones.
I managed to break the extractor using +P HST, and the post dropped into the frame during recoil, gouging what you might term a 'wound channel' through the polymer frame.
Springfield was open and pleasant to deal with. They had me a replacement in under a week, with a trigger job included.
I will say: That's the only malfunction I've had with an XD product, and it was indeed a soft shooter. The claims of accuracy are well-founded (sample size of 1).
If I had the option, I'd consider the XDM variant.

Jim WatsonWhen I was struggling with an Other Brand high cap .45, I was dismayed to find they had discontinued the 5.25 Competition .45.
