Gracie Allen is my personal savior! |
Got caught up in the recent sea of Beretta Model 81s (.32ACP) with a B and a BB and have thoroughly enjoyed what little opportunity I've had to shoot them. Thought I'd look around to see which other .32ACPs might be fun to shoot - particularly for those with mid-to-large sized hands. Does anyone know anything about the CZ70? Any other "larger" .32s anyone would care to recommend? Magazine availability a plus!

The Beretta 81 is far superior to the CZ 70. Unless you are just trying to build a collection of 32 acp pistols I don't think the CZ offers anything special. If you want another really cool classic 32 acp I suggest a Walther PP or a Colt 1903.

Thanks. Part of the attraction is that the 81 is just about just big enough to shoot comfortably. There aren't many other .32s out there that can say the same. I had been looking at a CZ83, but mags seem to be expensive.

The CZ 50/70s are OK to have as a collectible, if you get one for a good price. In my opinion, they suffer from poor ergonomics, and a ridiculously heavy DA trigger pull. _______________________________ Do the interns get Glocks?

I own a CZ70, I agree that it is a good pistol with a heavy trigger pull.

For some weird reason I went on a .32 acquisition spree a couple years ago and picked up quite a few different types. I've got a cz70. It's a fine pistol...for an eastern European service pistol in .32. I don't think the ergonomics are much worse than my Walthers. If you find one for a good price I'd go for it. The sights are not great, and as mentioned the DA pull is HEAVY. As a practical pistol I'd never recommend it. But as something to have because you want one...sure, I'm all for it.

Well, I've got a P38 so I can't pretend to be a snob about double-action triggers. I'll keep an eye open for a good deal on a cz70 just because I think it would be a fun addition to the ComBloc section of the collection, but I think the hunt goes on for another "fun to shoot mousegun". alptraum, I'm sympathetic to those who've gone on acquisition sprees. I never thought about .32s until I got the 81 on a whim and then all of the sudden found myself looking at a fair few neat little guns that I'd never paid attention to before. It can be sorta like walking into a new section in the toy store when you're a kid. On the other hand, I dig the 9x18 Makarov but eventually found myself shying away from a couple of PITAs to shoot like the Hungarian FEG-63.

The CZ 70 is a nice little ComBloc pistol. Spare mags are out there as are duty holsters if you want a complete rig. The only thing I've found is that the CZ 70 likes hotter European ammo (Prvi Partizan and Sellier & Bellot) compared to others. On another Czech pistol note, AIM Surplus just advertised CZ 83 pistols also in 32 ACP. Getting spare mags for that one will probably be a little tricky though.

CZ 83 mags in 32acp for only $16.99 https://shop.cz-usa.com/Produc...-83--765-32acp-15-Rd Update: Already sold out. They only last one day. The folks who just got an 83 from AIM must have bought all the mags. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Fundman,

^^ Thanks, I'll have to give them a call and see if they expect to have more in at that price. I saw the AIM deal (probably where Kaschi did) but the $40-$50 mags scared me off. ETA: The website says they're out. CS says they've got them, but not for long, at the $16.99 price. Looks like I'm gonna go bother AIM. Shit. Then again, a 70 and a 50 would make a set. AAARRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
