Screwed up FFL situation

pedropcolaScrewed up FFL situation
Yup. I love FGE but they want 75 bones per transfer. Hot Shot is 25. So I’m guilty of being a cheapskate.

dry-flyIf their FFL expired and they are not renewing then the ATF would step in to facilitate getting the firearms that are in limbo transferred out. It’s not like the dealer in question is going to just get to keep the gun. At least that’s been what I’ve seen.

Their FFL is showing to be valid through June 1st, 2026. So something else is going on.
Their FFL is valid. You said you've seen and handled it, so it isn't damaged or lost. And if there's a FDLE issue, it's apparently not on the FDLE system side, and if it were as simple as a lost password or whatever then they would be doing whatever it takes to fix it right away rather than lose out on all that gun sale/transfer revenue for over a week, which suggests it's something deeper like their FDLE account has been suspended/revoked.
Perhaps their business license expired, or they're behind in state taxes, and that has caused them to lose FDLE access? Or they failed or had some red flags in a system access audit and that caused them to lose access?
(I'm just spitballing... I don't have any personal knowledge of how the FDLE system works. And it may have nothing to do with FDLE at all, with that just being a convenient lie that they're telling customers to buy time.)
Regardless, I'd contact another local gun shop, ensure they're not having FDLE issues, and then get it transferred over to the other local dealer with either Hot Shot delivering it, you delivering it, or Hot Shot footing the bill to ship it.
Then let us know if you ever find out the real story as to why they've been holding on to your gun for over a week.

That makes a big difference, took a look on GB and there are plenty of $25 fee services in the area so if you need one, it's a good place to look.

pedropcolaWell 50 bucks is 50 bucks. As the diceman would say “I needed the money”.
I guess I didn’t make this clear. I have done a bunch of transfers with this FFL the last couple years. Including last month with a SP101. This just became a problem 2 weeks ago. Going forward I can solve this. I’m trying to get this one gun into my possession. That’s it. As much as I like these guys this has soured me on this shop. I need my gun though. lol.

HRKYeah I understood you had good experience with them, and it's this one time, inexcusable though really, and they should come clean as to why you don't have it, my experience is that if you are straight forward when there is a problem, customers can be more understanding.
Hope they get it straightened out.

The Diceman joke was 'Little Boy Blue, he needed the money'..
Just out of respect to Clay.
I'd post a video, but I'm not sure it would be appreciated here..

I hope you get your firearm soon.
My FFL charges $40 a transfer, but as many guns as you want per transfer.
Like I should order/purchase them all at the same time, have them shipped, and pick them all up at once..

pedropcolaPoetic license. Once Clay cried all over himself about his insensitivity I got nothing for him. Lol. And no. No gun. Going over there tomorrow.

pedropcolaUpdate: they called me this am before I was headed that way. Everything was solved. I can pick it up and they gave me some free range visits for my trouble.
I asked for specifics but got a very generic answer about FDLE website being fickle. So I got no answer for you guys on that.
If my Imgbb account works today I will post some pictures of a freshly released mountain gun in the wild.

92fstechThat's good news. Your gun is out of jail, and that's what matters. Looking forward to photos and a range report!

Johnny 3eaglesGlad you finally got your gun. It sometimes can be a royal pain in the butt when things don't go as planned.

pedropcolaThey were very nice about it. Let me shoot it again for free and took 10 bucks off the transfer. Called me as soon as they got the ok. So bad situation handled fairly well. I will keep sending them my business.
I asked for more detail. They said that the small local FFL’s had lost access for varying amounts of time. They were out for three weeks. The big gun store down the street FGE never missed a day. I don’t know how that works.

lymanno idea how Florida systems work
however, here in VA, if you fail to pay the fees, (Va charges $2 per instate transfer, $5 if the buyer is out of state) that are charged monthly
go 90 days and you may get shut off from background checks thru Vchek,
VSP has been knows to suspend an account for continued errors as well,
so it sounds like a hiccup of some kind, self inflicted or not, between Florida and the shop

pedropcolaI have no idea how any of it works. I’ve just never had anything like this happen. I do love the gun though. I posted a separate review.
I figure everybody bashes the manufacturers but rarely praise them if everything is ok. S&W is getting horrible reviews lately and of the last 6 of their guns they have all been great with one exception that a quick trip to wherever fixed quickly. I hear lots of online complaints about the Mountain Guns but I own 2 and they are fantastic. Both of them.
