G27 in a Galco Ankle Glove. With the proper boot cut jeans or slacks that don’t have tapered legs this combo goes unnoticed. I will say that the size and weight needs you to cinch the elastic very tightly to keep it stable and I buy a fresh holster every few years due to that. Hellcat in a Galco Ankle Lite. This carries similar to the G27 but more comfortable due to being a little more compact and less weight. I think the lower mass keeps the gun more stable on your ankle. S&W, MP340 in Galco AG158B. I’ve carried a J frame of one flavor or another for the past 40 years. For many years I used the original elastic renegade brand holster which were fantastic but discontinued. Lately I went back to J frame and using this Galco holster, which carries very comfortably and disappears under most styles of pants. Kahr CW380 in a Galco Ankle Lite. This combo is the lightest weight and most comfortable by far. It helps that this particular gun shoots extremely well even though it’s a 380. I would probably choose this over the Smith above.

Another option is the Walther PPS. Similar in size to the Glock 43, and gives you the option of 6,7 or 8 round mags. If you do go ankle carry, get the extra leg strap so it doesn't slide around. I second the Galco recommendation. Great products. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for in holsters as well as guns.

Just an ankle carry FYI: Others have posted about the need for a quality holster for this type of carry. And, once you get one, do this: Run flat out for a good distance! My cop buddies from time to time lost their BUGs out of their ankle rigs while foot chasing people. Another fun bonus of this happening is the gun is flung across pavement, under parked cars and into puddles and mud. While dining with a detective, he crossed his legs and dislodged his snub, which then was propelled out from under our booth and into the middle of the aisle of the diner. Awkward! Test your ankle rig thoroughly! End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Casuistic Thinker and Daoist |
I carried a 642 for years on my ankle as a BUG to my 226 duty gun. I liked it because I could easily reach it while seated. I eventually switch over to a Kahr CW9 which was just as comfortable to wear there. I tried the G26 but it's really too bulky for that purpose. Even for just Driving Carry, the bulk would bother me whenever I got out of the car. I tried the Shield, as a companion to my M&P9, and it definitely needed the Apex trigger kit. The kit is a better value than importing a 2.0 Shield. I've handled the SIG 365 a bit lately and it's a nice piece of kit. I do like it better than the feel of the Shield and it's a nice size No, Daoism isn't a religion

When I was shopping around to replace my trusty Walther PPS M2 LE a few years ago I looked at, and shot all of the micro wonder 9's out there. Ended up settling for a S&W Shield Plus Performance Center and couldn't be happier. I couldn't shoot the 365 to save my life with the tiny grip. IDPA ESP SS

Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best |
It does indeed. I think it's pretty much vaporware at this point, though. I've never seen one in a shop, and don't know as they're in-stock online, either. I have my reservations based on the lack of track record, but I'd really like to actually put hands on one and check it out.

I have both the Glock 43X and the 365X MS. The 365X has better capacity with being a smaller weapon. The trigger is light years better, but the Glock is heavy enough, that you will be applying conscious effort to set it off. You can add the safety to the Sig with minimal effort. GLock only has the trigger safety. I find them equal, but the Sig edges it out in size alone. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

SP201 is a great gun but damn they are not fun to shoot. Lot of power. J Frame S&W seems like the best solution to your desire. Not much more fun than the SP 101 to shoot though. My hands last about 20 rounds with the J frame and about 5 with the 101. The grips are just too small for my hands but both are great ccws. I have both and have no problem carrying either.

I’m not trying to be argumentative but I don’t know why any officer would carry a back up on their ankle. I got into far too many foot chases and skirmishes to open myself up to that. I was a wrestler as a youth and I’m not standing with anyone. A gun in the ankle is easy pickings. I always kept my backup on a shoulder holster inside my shirt Even in skirmishes the worst thing is it fell lose in my shirt but was not open season for others. The flip side is it was not available quickly as I would have to unzip my shirt to access that. I was always good with that trade off.

Balaam's Ass |
For this time of year I have three guns in my rotation. Glock 43x, lots of holster and site options. K a h r K9 because it's stylish and I love the trigger. Ruger SP101 because I grew up shooting revolvers and old folks like me don't like change. God bless America...and no one else

A Kahr PM9 would be grea in that role. I've had a Kahr PM40 and it's stellar. A friend bought a Glock 43 for his wife for CCW. She liked it until trying my PM40. Roger
