Satin nickel refinishing-how does it hold up?
I would be interested in anyones experience having a nitron finish pistol re finished in nickel or satin nickel and how well it held up assuming pistol was carried frequently.

What about value? -Does re finishing a pistol add or subtract?

I have found satin nickel harder to clean. The matte surface has little places that dirt does not want to come out of. I only owned one, but this is the reason I never bought another

Other than that, it holds up just fine

It does both.

Purist collectors hate anything that is not original and will devalue it.

Some will recognize the additional corrosion resistance and possibly pay a premium for it over a like condition blue firearm.

Still others just love nickel and will trip over themselves once they see it.

the older Colt Satin Nickel seems like it wants to tarnish, (for lack of a better term)

you can clean it up with a standard pencil eraser, but it will get dirty again,

I had the slide and controls of my standard blued P228 refinished in an electroless nickel to match my 2-tone P229's factory finish. I've found the finish on both the factory as well as refinished coatings to be exceedingly durable and easy to clean.
