The cake is a lie! |
Have any of you seen one of these before? Double ramped barrel hood. I believe to reduce drag, or possibly to vent gasses? I've never encountered one before.

My take on it would be it probably has something to do with being a "C" model.

Yeah, provided that isn't a custom job. What's the story on that pistol, OP? Random internet pic, or yours? ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

Only on the Gen4 compensated models, I think. First saw this on TFB at least a couple of years ago. Wasn't sure what to make of it back then, but I recall seeing it again in later pics of the Gen4 G19C. There's one for sale on GB at this moment with the same ramping on the chamber block: Found the TFB article: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/...9c-gen4-compensated/

You're going to feel a little pressure... |
Cut to reduce drag, I would guess. That's the spot that gets filthy on my Gen 3 and will cause the slide to hang up. It did that around the 3,000th round at MOAC. A little Hoppe's, a little grease, and a new recoil spring got her running smooth for the rest of the class. Bruce "The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams “It is just as difficult and dangerous to try to free a people that wants to remain servile as it is to try to enslave a people that wants to remain free." -Niccolo Machiavelli The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken
