If we're counting historical products, too, FN could maybe claim the stuff they manufactured under contract, like all the "Made in Belgium" Browning guns.

FWIW Ruger did offer an SMG at one point. It was called the MP-9 and it was designed by Uziel Gal. Didn't sell well IIRC.

Wouldn’t Beretta be in this contest?

Plus - they’ve been in the business since the 1400s’ - and I think still family owned...

It's true that Ruger offers a wide variety of firearms products. And it's true that few companies offer similar depth in their firearms. For companies to survive and prosper, they must sell guns. Not everybody wants the same things. I own only one Ruger -- a Single Six 22lr revolver that Dad gave to me when I was pretty young. I don't own a CZ, FN, S&W, or Beretta.

Thus, being a company that provides many types of firearms is nice, but so far such companies haven't earned my business. I'm not stating that their products aren't good, but rather that I prefer firearms from other sources. Thus, none of them build what I want.

Those are two of my favorites as well, but the Mini 14 and P89 are great too.

I do have a 14" KAC-556 folder, but Hannibal made me buy that one

Reviewing the Historical Videos I know that it never hits anything when fired Smile

Mauser would also be close. Their history includes muzzleloaders, .22s, bolt rifles, semiauto rifles, assault rifles, machineguns, submachine guns, shotguns, semiauto handguns, and revolvers. They're only missing lever guns.

How could we forget Beretta?

When I said I was cheating a little I meant RECENT history. Like a decade or two. Not back to the 1400s. Smile

As Ruger doesn’t currently have a shotgun in their lineup, I’d say they’re out. I’d say Beretta coupled with their other brands are as close as you’re going to get.

Ah. I was going to ask - didn't Beretta do what Uberti and Pietta are doing now with 19th Century designs back just after WWII?

1526 to be precise. Their 500th anniversary is coming up. Our Beretta rep has reminded me of that latter fact a few times in the last couple of years.
