SPRINGFIELD ARMORY offers a 1911 style subcompact in .40s&w that has a forged steel frame. If I remember correctly, their .45acp and 9mm however are alloy frame. Alloy seems to be the norm for most manufacturers. https://www.springfield-armory...cts/1911-emp-40-cal/

Pat, I have the Sig Ultra Compact in .45acp. It is, considering the size and caliber, a very pleasant gun to both carry and fire. It has been 100% reliable and has had no issues with any off the shelf ammo. I keep mine loaded with Federal HST 230 +p. Carry holster is by Wright Leather Works. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER
