SpeerchuckerSIG pistols In Aus
Mate I am not happy at all as I have just decided to get my licence back after a 23 year hiatus lo and behold I get on the importers portal and they do not have a sig P220 45ACP or a P226 in 9 mil they don't even import them all they have is a P226 in 22 long rifle with the threaded barrel .

CPD SIGIs there any other .45's or 9mm's you can get?
Are Sig's in .40 available?

Knowing nothing about your laws and restrictions are you allowed to import or buy a 9mm conversion kit and extra 9mm magazines for converting the Sig P226/22Lr to 9mm. I know years ago many found it to be a cheaper way to end up with a P226 that would shoot both 22Lr and 9mm.
If your not able to buy the 9mm conversion kit can you buy it in peaces?

Blume9mmThe first and biggest question is which is it... a 'legal' restriction on what can be imported or just a limit on what the importer offers?

Yes there are but after using a sig I really like the sigs trigger and the pistol seems to fit me perfect so will be going with that somehow even if I have to buy second hand which I don't want to do and I have kept all my stuff from years ago dies projectiles cases powder.

Yes i have read about that and seen some YouTube videos about buying the .22 calibre and then the 9mm upper and as for our restrictions wow where do I start got nearly as many of them as what we got people in this country I cannot import one I have messaged the distributor and asked if I can order one as it takes 6 months to get a licence yes hassle Factor I call that it should get here when my licence does

jcsabolt2Is CZ an option for you? I have not held a pistol that fits better in my hand than a CZ 75 series. It's one of the most copied pistols in the world.

What about buying a used Sig, then replacing the trigger springs? (I'd do the recoil spring as well) there's spring kits available, and shouldn't be that hard to get to the "Land down under".

Blume9mmfor what it's worth, there is nothing wrong with holding out for a Sig... I've never had a problem with any of the ones I own... both new and used they all function perfectly. The only thing I don't like is the factory standard grips on a P226... too thick for me and so it doesn't allow my finger to rest naturally in the right place on the trigger.
Since it sounds like you have the ability to reload I guess the difference between 9mm and 45 acp is not a super big deal.
But for plinking 9mm will still be lighter on your body as well as wallet... but 45 in a full size pistol is not that bad.
