Did they every make a 228 with a beavertail, something similar to the 229 Elite?

I don't think so and I'm sure 12131 will be along soon. You could make a frankensig and use P229 beavertail frame and put a P228 slide on it.

Sig never made a P228 with beaver tail. Would be definitely interesting though if they did make one.

I don’t think they ever made a P228 with a beavertail. I’ve never seen one. But as noted above, you could cobble one together using a P229 Elite frame, if you can find one.

The P228 is awesomely perfect as is, don’t see why you would need one with a tail Smile

Then again, I do enjoy shooting my P226 Elite.....

That's right, at this moment, there is no such animal coming from the factory.

Thank you guys, now don't get me wrong I love all my Sigs. I have to say one of my favorites is the Sig P220 Elite. All that said and done I have fat hands and find it more comfortable and faster when I shoot something with a beavertail. It is easier for me anyways to have that large shelf to use a reference point when coming out of the holster.

So I would love to get a 228 with Beavertail, even better one with a rail but pipe dreams are just that.

I've always liked how the Elite frames index in my hand. But it seems like sacrilege to sully the simple, spare and relatively clean lines of the P228 with another form of questionable worth to most shooters. But it IS SIG that we're discussing here and they DO love their variants. Scorpions worthy of emperors and rainbows that even a little pony could love...we really don't want to go down that crooked path, do we? Wink

You can get a railed version. Just won't have the beavertail

Not to change the subject per say, but my other thread the 228 is winning and I was hoping someone could clear up the confusion.

On Sig's website under the 229, they have a M11a1 when you watch the video he clearly states it is from the Sig 228 line up.

So is it a 228 ?

Absolutely not. The M11-A1 is a rail-less tail-less rebadged P229. Total gimmick when it was introduced to attract the uninformed. SIG even put the P228 grip panel on it. Roll Eyes
And, the original ad said of the fighter pilot, "His other weapon is the F-18", implying that the military adopted the M11-A1. They never did. Roll Eyes

Marketing people can be so devious. But typically it's the ones higher up in the food chain who were the enablers.
