Holster question P226 with optic, light, threaded barrel Login/Join

I want a holster with ALS type retention that'll handle either a P226 or P320 X Full with an Acro2/Romeo2 type optic, threaded barrel, and Streamlight TLR-1 HL

I've found nothing at all for the P226 with optic and light, threaded barrel or not.

I've found some options that should work for the P320 X Full with optic and light (including Safariland and Alien Gear) but only with the flush fit barrel, not the threaded.

I'm trying to decide whether I want to do some upgrades for my P226ST or just go ahead and get a P320, but don't want to end up without a retention holster due to lack of either fitting correctly.

Any suggestions?

There is nothing in the Safariland Will-Fit chart for a 226 with an optic.

I have found that you will often be able to find something that works, though. The critical measurements are the width of the slide, the measure from the top of the slide to the bottom of the light or trigger guard (whichever is lower), and the positioning of the ejection port.

For example, I have a 6390RDS for an M&P 5". That holster fits my Staccato XC and Walther Q5SF with optics and X300 very well. The ALS locks in and is secure. The Staccato can rock forward and back a little but I can't defeat the ALS by rocking it or really tugging on it. My Staccato P 4.4" does not work in the same holster because the rocking is far worse on the shorter slide. My 4.25" M&P fits fine.

For threaded barrel fit, I would go up a "size." On the P320, you'd probably want to go X5 length. You need to be careful on the P320 7TS holsters...for some reason they make a TLR-7 holster even in X5 slide length and there are a lot of those out there.

I wrote that long post out and then thought maybe I'd just try a couple things...

6390RDS for M&P 5" does NOT fit my P226 Elite with threaded barrel and X300U. It binds in about the last inch. I think it is a slide width issue. This holster DOES fit my P220ST with X300U. I'm not convinced that the P320 ALS holster will work with the P226 but I do not have one to try out.

Last one, promise...

Also look at RDR Gear. They modify Safariland holsters to fit guns that Safariland does not cover. They have posted some 226 with optics holsters on social media. The owner (Jeff) is pretty responsive and spent about half an hour on the phone with me one day talking through an issue we were having at work that was a zero revenue call for him (and he knew that going in).

I think you may have found me a winner. I've not contacted him yet, but based on his site, it looks like he does exactly what I need.

Thank you!
