I recently tried it for the first time and I really liked it. I will continue using it for a general cleaner.

I use it for cleaning, and find it smells like licorice. Still use grease on the rails for lube.

I converted from mobil-1 to Slip2000. Purely for the better for me reason. I loved Mobil 1 but worry about breathing it and rubbing it all over myself.

Edit, I thought it was ballistol but I'm actually using slip2000.

I love Balistol. Works great. All you millennial Nancy’s just need to suck it up........so it smells like dirty hobo feet after a train jump gone wrong....suck it up!

I hate the stuff and find it useless.

Before I'd use Ballistol, I'd use Hornady One-Shot. It seem to be a better protectant and lubricant, and the solid lube wont attract gunk.

I use ballistol on my nickel plated S&W m22 .45acp. Mostly as a surface cleaner for the bore I still use CLP.

I bought a can yesterday after reading this thread. I bought it for spraying all my suspension parts after I power wash all the mud and crap off of them after a day of off-roading. To keep everything nice, keep the rubber from drying out and hoping to keep some of the squeaks down.
I still had the can in the car. At work this morning popped out the baton and it needed a little lube so I sprayed it with Ballistol never used it before and forgot about the smell comments.
Licorice was my exact thought as well and I do not think it is a good smell.
Baton runs smooth.
We’ll see how it does on the suspension.

I use Ballistol exclusively as a cleaner. I love it. Works pretty well as a lubricant, but I still apply Slip2000 after a cleaning.

I use it often although it's not all I use.

I'll add this, let it soak. I come home from the range or a competition walk through the door, disassemble my gun and spray it down with Ballistol. I then put my stuff away, shower, change and clean my mags... Come back to the gun and it's cured, very slippery. It's also easy to clean. Very different than just running a patch through the barrel and wiping it down, you gotta let it sit and soak for a bit.

I only use smelly Ballistol on my BPCR.
For some reason, people think it is not a "petroleum product."

I use it on my AK-47 rifles. Personally, I don't mind the smell and I like using the aerosol version. Shortly after spraying it on, it tends to thicken a bit and stays put.

I have used it for many years, it works perfectly and I love the non-toxic characteristics of it.

Works well on wood as well, so ideal for rifles with wood furniture.

Didn't the Germans also use it as a 'tonic' in WWI? I don't know about as a laxative, or what- but this WAS the end of the 'snake oil' era.
