Been a couple years. Last firearm purchase was a Dan Wesson Guardian in 45acp.

If I want to buy a semi auto now, I’ll have to go thru the Colorado BS and I’m not about to do that anytime soon.


That said, I’ve been itching for a new revolver and a lever action .22 lately.

I didnt buy anything from March 2020 until about 2024. Prices were mostly high and nothing interested me.
Since 2024 I've bought maybe a dozen guns. 2 Ruger MK IVs, a cz tactical sport, an x5, a Model 17 Smith, a 10/22, and a Henry Border Patrol commemorative just because. And a couple AR uppers and lowers. All were at good deals except one MK IV. Its probably been close to a year since my last purchase (9 months, maybe. Id have to look).

In that same time e period I went from a once a week visit to my local shop to having been in maybe 3 times this year. I am actually saving money compared to my pre-Wuhan "normal."

It was well over a year till i bought a ruger 3 screw super single six in 22lr/22wmr.

wasnt looking for one but I thought it was cool for 300 bucks

I've sold several this year to help pay for a bike, so I've seen a net decrease, but I did buy a G43X and put a gritgrips frame and Osight SE on it either late last year or early this year.

Letting go of a few was actually good for me...it's shifting my focus back towards tools that I actually use, and the "collection" portion of my safe is also a little more organized now.

There's a couple more that I probably ought to sell, but overall I'm pretty happy with what I've got and there's not really anything out there right now that really gets me excited. The last few times I've gone I to a gun shop I've left with the realization that I have better stuff at home....and my collection isn't even all that remarkable.

When I was in my late 20’s to early 40’s I was in what I called the gun of the month club, buying something new very frequently. As I have aged I have settled into just buying stuff I need for a specific purpose ( type of competition for example) and become much more selective. It must be the right gun at the right price with no compromise. My favorites are classic S&W revolvers- but prices are often excessive. My last handgun was a used beater cop model ten for $250. Far too often I see beater grade guns listed for mint in box prices. I do need a spare steel and air weight J frame for my purposes, but they need to find me at the right price. I inherited patience from my wonderful father. I waited about 3 years on the model 10 for the right gun at the right price and I am ok with that. The hunt is half the fun

I'm kinda getting there myself after going on a mad rush this past year of purchasing after my retirement.

For years, I had to sell a gun to buy a gun.
I didn't have much fun money, so I'd sell my least favorite to finance my next want.

Then I got to a place where I didn't have to do that anymore and stopped selling guns but kept buying them.
I thought I'd save every gun and pass it down to my kids when the time came.

But now I'm realizing a few things;
One: my son doesn't really care about firearms. I'll save him one or two nice pistols, but he couldn't care less, and that's fine.
Two: My daughter is into firearms, as is her husband, but she's content with just having a few; I don't think she wants to have to keep up with 30+ guns.
Three: Her husband, on the other hand, would love to have them all, but he's just a grown-up child. He can buy his own guns.

Anyway, I'm starting to get back into selling a few to purchase others or even to thin the herd.
I recently sold a Gen 5 G45 after acquiring a Gen 6 G45, I don't need two of them.
I'm headed to a local show today to sell 3 handguns, that I thought I'd keep forever, to finance a PCC.

Besides that, my safe is on the smaller side, and it's getting pretty full.
Time to sell a few handguns to make room for a PCC and an AR, or just more ammo.

I went from 1996 to 2020 without shooting or buying one. On a whim, my wife and I went to the range one day. The bug hit and I found my love for shooting and buying pistols again. I have probably bought 20 since then. I know for sure there are 2 more I will get, HK USP45 and a Dan Wesson. There will be others of unknown type but those 2 for sure will come my way at some point.

It's been over two years for me; the last one was February 2024. HOWEVER, I'll hopefully be remedying that in the next couple of weeks.

I see far fewer used guns at my LGS than before. It was rather incredible sometimes what would show up there, but times have changed.

I did sell those 3 handguns at the gun show last weekend.
Took all of 30 minutes, and sold them all to private resellers.

Ended up purchasing a Stribog SP9 A3, although I had a local shop order it.
Picked it up this week with an optic.
Ordered a suppressor for it on the 13th.



So, I sold 3, that I had no use for, to buy one..

I am the kind of person who likes trying/experiencing things for myself. So I’ve bought a few guns over the last several years because I want to run dots or try the super slim itty bitty thing etc. I don’t know if it’s “fear of missing out” or just wanting to have a little practical experience across the board. (I’m like this with everything not just guns).

That said I always seem to find my way back to a DA/SA roughly Glock 19 sized “compact”. It’s just my comfort zone and every time I “stray”, if you will, I come back with even more of an appreciation. It’s not some I’m getting old and I eschew new technology thing it’s just a personal I like what I like thing.

But I will have to try the next new thing as well as it’s in my nature so I am sure there are more guns on the horizon. I did find that I LOVE the Glock slim lines (48/43x) so continuing to buy is working out.
