So, been looking for a Walther PP or PPK bring back, just something to use for layout photos while I build up page designs. So not looking for anything other than a “any condition” example.

Instead, found this little number:



Fits the criteria, very worn condition, cheesy 1950s plastic grips, absolutely NO collector value. But… a very early PPK, with the 90% safety. For the price of a “Plain ol wore out Walther PP”!

Wish I knew the story behind how it got here and who changed out the grips, if they carried it as their “self defense gun” or just thought it looked cooler.

That's interesting about the multi-year suspension of PPK, PPK/S and PP models. Wonder what they have planned? Could be their way of trying to get the ones already in inventory moving.

Now, if Walther would re-introduce the P38 in all stainless steel, I'd be all over one!

I don’t find that surprising at all. I find it surprising that they sell any of that model. It wasn’t a great “shooter” to begin with compared to modern choices and then they added that gosh awful looking beaver tail. Ugh. Then instead of making a top shelf 22 version they pawn it off to a pot metal lookalike. My PPK/S will never have a stable mate unless I find an older one.

This is number three for me, I found this stainless steel Interarms also in 7.65, came with box and all the paperwork, including a target dated 1998:


Then I got a .22, just because, well… awesome!


I’d say I’m done, but I still want a decent PP just to round everything out.

The beavertail sure is an ugly addition to the otherwise beautiful, graceful lines of the PPK and its siblings. The only recourse a guy would have (if he just HAD TO HAVE a new production gun) is to let a gunsmith take some of that extra metal off.

I picked up this fine example of a PP several years ago.
It's .22LR.
Made around 1969/1970

I had a PPK/s S & W made stainless .380 quite a few years ago, I didn't keep it for very long. POS!

I've always admired the Pachmayr wraparound rubber grips as shown on the PP in the previous post.

When I bought my first Colt Combat Commander NIB for $375 in 1988, Pachmayrs immediately replaced the wooden panels. Still have and admire that pistol. The rubber material really let you hang on while holding and shooting.
