P220 10mm recoil spring assembly broke
Has any one had their P220 10mm captured recoil spring break the screw that holds it together?

I disassembled my pistol to clean it and when removing the recoil spring assembly spring, guide rod and guide wnt flying across my basement. Screw head nowhere to be found.

Pistol has less than 500 rounds thru it.

I've heard of this happening with P210A's but not with P220's.

Calling Sig tomorrow to see if they will replace it. Don't see one available on their website.

Any other suggestions?

Both Midwest Gun Works and Osage County were out of stock but you can sigh up to be notified when back in stock. 3 months ago I bought one from Osage for $45, today it shows a price of $58. Ridiculous.

You could go aftermarket and try to find a DPM Systems recoil reduction system guide rod.

Todays update.
Called Sig c.s. this morning and they are sending me a new one.

Had to supply the c.s. rep the part number for it as he couldn't locate one in their system.

All in all a very stress free cordial call.

Looking into the DPM Systems unit and may order one to keep the factory one as a spare and to put in the gun if I ever decide to sell it.

Thanks Paten for the suggestion.

Glad SIG CS did the right thing and is sending you a part, as they should, on a essentially new pistol.

FTR, I believe Bruce Gray has remarked multiple times that he recommends against recoil reduction systems, like the DPMS, in P-series weapons. If the pistol is properly sprung, those systems may hurt more than help regarding frame and slide wear.

I had no idea SIG was using a captured spring assembly in any of he tradition P22x pistols

I do not have one of the current production P22xs. My newest one is the P224 I bought in 2013.

My 10MM P220 predates the Factory production guns having been manufactured in 2007.

Was this always the supplied recoil group with the production 10MM P220s?

To the best of my knowledge yes. Haven't heard of any other P22x pistols with them.
