They are great guns. Finding a 9mm may not be as easy as finding 40 S&W right now--at least on the used market. There are lots of police trade-ins for circa 400 dollars available. I have an old West German 226 9mm and a newer railed 226 with both 40 and 357 Sig barrels. They are two guns I will never get rid of.

I think I picked up my police trade in for around 300 on gun broker. Bought a 357 sig barrel and a 9mm barsto conversion barrel for it.

The P226 has been my trusty companion for the last 16 years, with not one problem. There are many styles to choose from, get what you really want. Good luck with your choice. It is, IMO, one of the best pistols out there. Mike You can run, but you cannot hide. If you won't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

My favorite Sig, and I have tried them all. Bar none one of the greatest 9mm service sized pistols ever made.

I own or have owned numerous examples of the P226, in addition to other SIG models. The platform has been around for decades, widely used by both civilian law enforcement and military use and is a proven design. As should be expected with any design that has been produced for many years it has gone through numerous design changes, and at certain points in the design had some design flaws appear. Generally speaking the P226 is a safe, reliable, accurate platform. As with any gun considered for purchase you should first answer certain basic questions such as how you plan on using the gun, what purpose(s), what conditions, what action type, and whether the gun meets your individual ergonomic needs. If you have more specific questions perhaps we could narrow down our responses. Performing a simple forum search you should find numerous threads regarding the P226. By the way...you need to slow down and not post so frequently. Welcome to the forum!

I carried a P226 in 9mm as a duty weapon for a good number of years, and served as a department armorer as well. It is a superb weapon, and despite the neglect that some officers show their duty weapons, I never saw one malfunction.

The P226 is a great pistol. There are several versions made over the years, but it would be hard to go wrong with any of them. Welcome to the forum.

This. Next will be a Legion, West German, then an SA, LDC...... You’ll love them all. Worse than rabbits. “There is love in me the likes of which you’ve never seen. There is rage in me the likes of which should never escape." —Mary Shelley, Frankenstein

been carrying a 226 on duty since 01, after I left my wheel guns behind. My German framed one is well worn but gave years of service. I now carry a 226ST . Never can go wrong with a 226. Guys at work give me grief over the cost of Sigs ( we buy our duty guns) but quality comes at a price....

I am a 220 fan and a few months ago traded for a 1990 226 with the intention of selling it. I hadn't ever even held a 226 or wanted one, but after holding the 226 and checking it out, knew it just felt right in my hands and decided to keep it. After taking it to the range I knew my decision to keep it was the right choice as it shoots like a dream and is incredibly accurate.

At one point the P229 was my favorite SIG, until I picked up a P226. Needless to say, I have more P226s now than P229s. Just great shooters and extremely accurate. Can't say enough good things about them. You will be pleased with this firearm, rest assured. ________________________________________________________________________________________
