valkyrie1So I've moved from Co to a Florida community in Flagler county and am looking for a cap light,
There's plenty of walking paths for the dog but now that it's getting dark early I need a cap light to walk with her. Already stomped the crap out of 5 or 6 really small water moc's and now they seem to be hanging on the side walk to get warm. Don't want my pup to get bit, have to bag also so I need free hands. Recommendations for a rechargeable cap light. Have done a search but they seem to be ad driven. Thoughts?

jimmy123xThe duracell head lamps that Costco sells in a 3 pack are very durable and put out a good amount of light. I think a 3 pack with batteries is $29.99. I like them and they have different light settings depending on whether you want a wide beam, narrow beam, etc.

WaterburyBobI've got a Fenix rechargeable headlamp that I've been very happy with.
I use it to walk my dog, too.

Ditto, except the dog part.
Got it at REI for a good price, and I really like the rechargeable aspect for the light's use.

stoic-oneUsually I just clip my EDC onto the brim of my ball-cap, but I guess a dedicated headlamp rig would be better if it's an everyday thing.
I have a couple of the Petzl Swift RL's I use on my hard had, 900 lumens, no complaints.

DirectDriveBack here in the World, they're called Headlights.
I've been using them since forever with our early hours huntin' and fishin'
The cheapo Energizers have been working well for a long time.
I still have an original with the "slide switch" that is over 20 years old now.
Have another Energizer with the waterproof "push switch" from Home Depot that is about 12 years old.
Get a headlight that doesn't have an obnoxious "menu switch" where you have to click through a bunch of settings to get to your preferred setting.
You want a simple switch.
I never bought a Petzl because I've always thought that they were over-priced.
Recently Botach had some on sale for $20 and they are very good.
Petzl-E089AA00 is the model number.
Fairly simple switch and well-made.
Easy access for battery replacement...this is a desirable feature, believe me.
Some are a PITA to replace the batteries.

MikeinNCSomething like Jimmy suggested, but more concerning is the stomping of snakes....you really need to start carrying a wooden cane or a six foot hiking staff for braining snakes.
Moccasins are fast and aggressive- and not to be trifled with. Brain ‘em, shoot ‘em, Park a car on ‘em...but don’t stomp one....

jmkfiveDepending on how much you are willing to spend, you might want to consider the Surefire Maximus headlamp. It's got a variable intensity rheostat knob so you can decide how much light you want. And it's rechargeable - I've gotten as much as 20 hours light out of one charge. I bought it initially for a high altitude trip to photograph Snow Leopards in the Himalayas of Northern India, and at the time it seemed quite expensive. But now I find it is invaluable for riding my bike in the early morning darkness through forest preserves full of deer and low hanging branches, and find that I use it for dozens of little tasks around the house every day. It's not lightweight, and it's not cheap. But you may just find you really love it once you try one out.

snorisNitecore TIP. Small, four light levels (top is 700 lumens), USB rechargeable battery, very small, and has a clip that’s designed for the bill of a baseball cap.
All for $30.
