I think the ruling is going to require braces to be stamped, but the $200 fee waived?.

Where's the latest you heard that?
I doubt the gov't is going to give away free tax stamps. If you get it, what's to stop you from just throwing away your brace and tossing a stock on it now that it's an SBR?
They're just going to make you pay the $200.
Just do the SBR and put a real stock on it.

Not minority enough!

You can probably safely bet that the lawsuits will run heavy and deep if the ATF now decides to charge the full $200, considering all of their previous gyrations and machinations that they did with their regulations. They let their proverbial genie out of the bottle and now they want to call a mulligan and essentially backdate their points system as if all of the intervening years didn't exist. Not only that, how long will it take them to actually process all of these braces? Decades? We don't have to look very far to see how much of a cluster frack the e-form system has become. Four to six weeks...rrriiiggghhhttt. It's becoming just as backed up as it before their e-filing system went live this past January. Add all of these braced gun submittals--regardless of what they'll charge--and it's going to be a nightmare of a bureaucratic logjam that any dam-building beaver would be proud of.

Which likely will make left very, very happy. And give us yet another reason to pile on even more lawsuits.

If their "final" ruling does come down at the end year it's likely too late to order anything in. I backordered my telescoping B&T direct from their US storefront and had to wait at least 3 to 4 weeks if I recall correctly, and that's when they were actively importing them in and there was plenty of cushion when the ATF was previously considering implementation of their 4999 worksheet. I suppose I got lucky with the Tailhook; retailers everywhere were out but GHW themselves had it in stock.

I thought I had seen — not sure how long ago or whether I imagined it — that they were proposing a ? 90 (or more?) day window to submit, and you could upload a photo to demonstrate you already had it as a pistol with brace?
Does that ring bells with anyone?

Nobody knows what the ATF is going to do. But its clear they are on the path to get rid of pistol braces that can also be shouldered easily on short barreled guns. How exactly they intend to deal with the millions of them in existence is the key question. I sincerely doubt they will grandfather anything, and I also doubt they will toss in a free tax stamp. The 90 day idea I think is from the publishing of the rule till its effective. In any case it seems to me a prudent person would assume that things are going to go south (as is true for all things ATF) and not add any more braces to their inventory and eF1 everything they have that's important. eF1 is barely surviving today add millions and millions of new ones and it will collapse on its own. Go find an engraver, eF1 your HK and add any of the number of great mp5 stock options. IMO

at the moment I don't see any issues getting braces or stocks for HK MP5 guns. If its a brace you need let me know I'm in a surplus condition as my F1's come back approved. I suspect the market on these is going to totally collapse once the ruling hits the ground unless there is some grandfather provision that in effect means you need to possess one right now. Then there will be none available...But once you SBR the thing who wants a brace the stocks are so much better. The great thing at least for the B&T braces on APC's is they offer a brace to stock conversion kit. Not sure if that's available for the HK braces, I'll check.

Absolutely.
This is nothing more than another backdoor national registry. I won't comply.

The SB braces are very nice. A relatively local dealer to me is selling what they have left for 50% off their sale price,so $75 for the brace. Which just figures as I bought one myself for almost twice that amount a week prior. Comply? When has "our government" ever complied?
