Recently have been thinking about getting my BHP refinished. I have had a thing for Black T since I saw the first HRT pistol on a magazine cover years
..damn decades ago.

Anyone with experience with Black T? Trying to decide between it and one of the modern finishes.

Pics appreciated as always.

Walter finished a P7M13 and a P7 M8 in Black T for me. Really made cleaning them a lot easier, especially scraping the piston. Also , I have another P7 in hard chrome, another good finish.

I had a small part done by them some years back.
Seems from what I understood, the bulk of their work now, is contract work for companies and agencies.

Walter's son is just as friendly as he was. I used to do occassional business with Birdsong years back, it's a great finish.

Just seems they don't advertise as widely as other coating shops.

I had a few guns done in Black-T back in about 2000; a Marlin Limited 1894 .44, a P229 9mm, an Essential Arms AR, and my duty 220.

Of considerable note is my 220; I carried it for about 19 years and the finish not only held up well, but where it suffered holster wear, it NEVER suffered corrosion. Even in a salt water environment where stainless guns were visibly rusting before your eyes- even where the finish was worn down near to bare metal. The Teflon embeds in the micropores and continues protecting. Lube was never more than light oil as the finish has a higher lubricity factor than oil by itself. If it's the same formula and attention to detail as 20 years ago, I wouldn't hesitate to do another gun in it.
