steel96Who do we like for 1911 and M9 magazines?
I recently got my first 1911 and M9 and want to buy some magazines. For 1911 mags, seems WC, Tripp and CMC are popular? For M9/92 mags, I guess Beretta??
What do you like for each and why?

LincolnSixEchoI have the factory ones only. I think they are are Mec-Gar though. Flawless performance. No reason in my opinion to go anything different.

steel96Beretta factory mags are Mec-Gar?

P-220I just bought my first 1911 (.38 Super) in along time. I bought several WC, but the 9 and 10 rounders, protrude below the frame and on this model, a mag well is not an option (well, with enough money anything is possible). I just bought some MecGars that will fit flush.
The reviews for the Mecgars were very favorable.

Floyd D. Barber1911s, Chip McCormick work in all 8 of my shooters. Shooting Star and Power Mags.
9th one is just for looking at.

Mec Gar makes many factory mags. A few years ago I ordered mags directly from CZ for my CZ75Bs. When they arrived, the packaging was Mec Gar. They are quality mags.

KskeltonChip McCormick power mags are some of my favorite 1911 mags

qxsoupFor 1911, I like the CMI hybrid followers with the removable baseplates. They also happen to be OEM msgs for the Sig 1911's. Top Gun Supply has the best prices I have found.

henryaz The only way I have found to pick the best magazine for a 1911, of any brand, is to try them all. One will work the best in your particular gun, then go with that and sell the rest. There are plenty of people who will buy up your rejects, as they work well in their pistols.
For my Colts, it always came down to Wilson Combat, but I tried Tripp (several models), McCormick (several models) and Metalform, and the Wilsons worked the best in
my guns. I always found very willing buyers for those I did not use.

46and2After trying most all of them and shooting/carrying 1911s a ton for years, I have a strong preference for stainless Metalform mags with welded baseplates and rounded metal followers, 7 or 6 round only. I like the popular Wilson's the least, of the common choices.

pblancFor my model 1911s I have had good luck with 8 round Chip McCormick Shooting Stars, and Wilson Combat 8 round 47s and 300 ETMs. The WC ETM magazines have a slightly longer metal magazine tube so they may accommodate 8 rounds better.
For the Beretta 92FS/M9 I have had no issues with Beretta branded 15 round magazines, but I prefer the 18 round, flush fit Mec-Gar mags and I also have a few of the 20 round Mec-Gar mags with the slightly extended "Plus 2" base plate.

hrcjonPersonal preference is Wilson for the 1911 and Mecgar for the M9. The latter being both better and cheaper.

Opinions which work best in DW Valor?
April 09, 2017, 11:34 AM
1KPerDayThe DW mags are very similar to the CheckMate hybrid 8 rounder with removable baseplates and dimpled followers and are excellent. The checkmate 8 rounders have extended mag bodies and are reliable with 8 rounds. I also shoot ACT mags, Chip McCormicks, Metalform and Colt mags.
Beretta either factory or MecGar are excellent. No reason to go with anything else.

oddballFor my Wilson CQB and Les Baer Premier II, I use Wilson full size 47D magazines, 8 rounders. Extremely reliable.

Lord VaalicFor 1911 always found Wilson's to be flawless.
All my Berettas use factory, they aren't too expensive and Beretta often has sales on their website

MooneyP226My Springer RO works flawlessly with my mutt-like package of factory 7 round, Wilson 47D 8 round, and Kimber (found at Bass Pro with a gift card) mags. It seems to like them all.
I have had issues ham-fisting Chip McCormick mags in during matches and jamming the mag too high to feed- inserted gently they are fine but with force I (and my brother in his Smith 1911) both have issues.

divilBeretta 92 - Beretta factory or Mec-Gar 15 round mags. The newest version of the Mec-gar mag is labeled M9 and available in blued, nickel & phosphate. I have 5 phosphate mags and they run reliably.
1911- Kimpro 7 shot flush fit magazines.

cgffFor 1911 .45 mags I prefer the colt factory, and Wilson 47D. 1911 9mm the same colt factory and WC
500-9s. For the 92, Beretta mags.
