TL;DR is two Government models (Standard and Target) both available in 9mm and 45ACP. Standard model is $2,000 while the Target is $2,600. All models come with an Aluminum grip instead of the standard polymer like with everyone else. 9mm guns come with a 17rd and two 20rd mags while the 45 comes with three 13 round mags.

There's several videos that have dropped today due to embargo, but TheHumbleMarksman did the biggest deep dive and compared it to several 2011 models.



Something else to remember about Kimber is they left New York during COVID and now have a new factory with new tooling in Troy, Alabama. It's almost a new company. As for me, I'll wait for the Commander sized models before jumping in. If these work as well as the guns they gave to the "Influencers" for review, then I have no interest in jumping through hoops for a change to buy a BUL Armory.

Thinking my STI and Infinity 2011s won't have a 9mm or 45 Auto joining them any time soon.

Maybe they'll make one with clean lines for normal folks.

They have a black version without holes in the slide, just the funky serrations.

As I posted earlier this week, it seems a new brand of STI knockoff appears every time you turn around; the market seems bottomless.

I will say I do love the trend of putting the rear sight on the plate instead of beating it out of the dovetail if I want to change it. I'm pretty sure you could buy the adjustable rear plate for the standard gun if you wanted.

That one does look a lot better.

FWIW, STI and others also had the option of aluminum or stainless grip module, but I do like how Kimber has the aluminum grip standard. Now if they had one without the front serrations and a full length dust cover...

I also like the sights on the rear plate. I'm going to have to check this one out someday.

In most cases, getting the aluminum grip fitted was normally a $400-$600 additional price. I'm also wondering if Kimber would do the polymer grip. That would probably get them under $1599 MSRP before dealer haggling. Before this gun, the lowest I found a 2011 with a metal grip was my Masterpiece Arms DS9 for $3,000.

I was able to get a 2011 with aluminum grips from STI for about that much, but that was nine years ago. If I adjust for inflation...



I couldn't pass up a 6" 10mm.

Really like the looks and features of the 45 version. Modernized but it doesn't scream "game gun."

Ok, that made me laugh ! I've gotta admit, though, that my buddy's Kimber 9mm 1911 that he picked up last year runs awesome and is a very soft recoiling gun.

Yep. Let’s see… 3-5 jams with an 8 round mag… should work out to about 13 jams with a 20 round mag.

That's also because Kimber left New York during COVID. They're now in Troy, Alabama with a brand new facility and brand new machines. There also hasn't been any problems with their KDS9 series, and that gun has all tool steel parts...
