neexTX22 Issues
Just got back from the range with my TX22, and it seems that, after installing a red dot on it, I'm having a few issues.
First issue is that some spent casings would get stuck in the chamber (I had to pry them out with a pocket knife--obviously this isn't related to the red dot being installed).
Second issue is that with the first 1-5 rounds in a full mag (16 round), the weapon would not cycle properly (failure to eject and stovepipes). I did not have any issues when the mag had 10 rounds or less.I had no issues like this prior to installing the red dot.
Third issues is that the second issue is worse with 1 of my 2 mags.
I mostly fed it Aguila "Super Extra" today--I haven't had issues with this gun and ammo before. I have some Winchester Super X that I plan to try tomorrow (it's the only alternative I have right now until the CCI and Federal that I ordered arrives).
I did thoroughly clean the weapon before shooting.
Has anyone else had issues after putting a red dot on, or using Aguila ammo with, their TX22?

CQB60Hopefully adding the red dot didn’t alter the cycle time on the slide?

henryTI have read a few article where a few others had simular problems after a Red Dot install. Changing to a different weight spring seemed to fit the problem.
Someone else will come along who had your problem and give you better advise.

arfmelYeah, I think slide weight is pretty critical on rimfire pistols. You may have increased it beyond what the ammo is capable of dealing with, so maybe a high velocity load with a heavier bullet will work better.

FundmanWhat does your barrel look like? There have been lots of reports of roughly cut rifling with chatter. That could he causing your problems.

pedropcolaNo problems before the dot, problems after the dot. It’s the dot. Try a lighter optic and/or play with springs, or ammo with more oomph. That’s all I got.

BiggyAfter about a 4 month wait, yesterday I received my new TX22 warranty replacement barrel from Taurus. I bought my TX22 when they were just getting to the dealers. The barrel in mine didn’t look that bad, but did have a small amount of chatter marks in the bore, but it didn’t shoot bad, lead up much, and the pistol was very reliable with all types of ammo. From just looking at it, the new replacement barrel’s bore is perfect, no chatter marks, bore and chamber are concentric to each other, and the barrel’s fit to the frame is *much* better, with virtually no movement in any direction. I hope to test the new barrel’s accuracy out in the next few days.

Ronin101how does one mount a red dot on one of these. I am unaware of how that is done?

I will look for this, thanks.

thats cool but I can see why it would be a problem for a 22 pistol to cycle the slide.
