Make America Great Again |
Have been wanting to try some Hogue checkered wood grips on my P230 for quite a while now but was concerned about spending that kind of money and not knowing if I’d like the feel of them over the stock grips. Well, thanks to the kindness of a forum member here who was unable to sell a set of walnut grips, he sent them to me as a Christmas present a week or so ago! Due to a number of things, including my wife being in the hospital all week, I was just now able to get them installed this evening. The right side grip required a bit of fitting as it was contacting the trigger bar and causing just enough drag that it did not consistently reset, so a bit of careful work with the Dremel and the problem was solved. I also had to take a few thousandths off of the grip screws because they were grabbing the magazine and not letting it come out like normal, but that was very minor. Here are pics of the final install. I haven’t shot it yet of course, but I do like the feel, and of course the improved looks! _____________________________ Bill R. North Alabama

That is very attractive. I like the way wood sets off a blue P230. "Ride to the sound of the big guns."

Those look great. Nice work in getting them installed without messing them up, you really have to be careful with wood. Thanks! I spent about an hour and a half just on that right grip, very slowly removing wood with 180 grit sandpaper and a dremel router bit running at medium speed. Lots of test fitting, putting red paint on the spring and bar then putting the grip back on to find points of contact. The red paint shows it up really quick! _____________________________ Bill R.
