JDGSig infinite Warranty
Does anyone know how far back this current warranty covers?

Jim WatsonUntil they run out of parts for your model, maybe.

JDGMy P226 Elite ASE has a warped grip panel on the right side. It has a .050” gap at the top front, Sig said it was in spec. Didn’t know there was an accepted warpage in grips panels. They have Hogue walnut grips, so maybe Sig won’t cover them. They are factory grips though.

12131Got a picture of the gap?

I do, but posting pics is not simple

Wow! That gap is no way in specs. That’s inexcusable for them to say it’s “in spec”. I would ask to speak to their supervisor and won’t relent until they fix it.
ETA: Did you send them this pic, or you only mentioned the .050” gap? Because only a person with no knowledge about firearms would say that is “in spec”, staring at this picture.

12131Ok, request to talk to the supervisor, then.

patwIf that is in spec, what do they consider what is not?

JDGThey also said the gun is seven years old, and don’t know how it was stored. I didn’t see it when I bought it, and the gun only has a few mags through it. I asked Paul Carrier to please forward my email to a supervisor.

4MUL8RPerhaps you could just contact Hogue? A well-regarded forum member from Hogue might be a good contact.
Thin wood panels can change over time depending on conditions and any significant liquid interaction.
Replacing the grips would be pricey.

I did email Hogue customer service. If I get no help, I’ll just get some G10s for it. G10s don’t curl up in the safe.

JDGSome progress...
Sig called me, but they still can't tell from a pic if the grip is out of spec. They sent me a RMA and label, want the entire pistol back on my shipping dime, evaluate, might be covered. At least the man said the warranty is lifetime, and transferable. Meanwhile Hogue got back with me saying the grip is bad, in need of replacement, will be sending my pics to the production team. Waiting on them to get back to me.

CARThat grip is not in spec. It warped, maybe because the wood was not seasoned properly before cutting, or sometimes wood is just like that and warps due to the internal stress of natural grain.

JDGWhat irks me the most is Sig saying they need the pistol sent in, and I have to cover shipping. He did say they can do it under a long gun rate of $27. I mentioned just sending them the grip panels to look at, that they can set them on any P226 frame in the shop, but he said they can't say for certain that there will be a 226 in house. I said do they have a straight edge? They making it harder than it needs to be. Hogue on the other hand said no doubt that its bad, are looking into it.

JDGIt’s on the way back to Sig! Hogue said they were defiately bad, but would cost me $180 to have them made.

JDGGun is already on its way back. I guess I’ll see on Monday if they replaced the grips, as the email did not mention any repairs.
December 14, 2025, 01:42 PM
slosigI hope that you get a good result.
Wood grips can be really beautiful. I wish they shot as well for me as the Hogue checkered G10s, but I sure like how beautiful they are.

JDGSig made good on their warranty. They said the damaged grip were not a warranty item because of humidity, but they replaced them as a one time curtesy. Call it what you will, I’m happy!
