After over a year of waiting, I finally received my pistol. I opted for Field grade over rack. She appears to be matching frame/slide with a HS barrel. Heavy finish wear but no arsenal rebuild marks. I have to say I'm thrilled to have a piece of history.

That is awesome! Kinda wishing I'd put in for one of those back when they had the open lottery. I had a 1943 RR issued by my department through the DRMO for a while, but recently had to give it back. I'm going to miss that gun.

Very nice. Congrats.
I was going to get one but opted not to.
Garand came from there and I was more than happy with it and still am.

Congrats. That looks exactly like the ones we had in our arms room when I was with the 101st.

Nice. Reminds me of the first 1911 I ever shot, a Remington National Match that belonged to a friend of mine. Liked it so much that I bought a Colt NM shortly after.

Thank you guys, I literally look at it daily right now. Just such a cool piece. Here are some better pictures. I can't wait to shoot it!

SIG4EVA - I'd say you hit the jackpot. Given my druthers, I'd select a well worn example over an arsenal refurb any day. Congratulations!

Is that something that’s accessible online? I too have a Remington Rand and would be very interested in the same information.

Sigfreud,

Follow these instructions, just make sure you put a value you are willing to pay. They did not require payment with the report.

Dear Sir or Madam,

This Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request is for ownership history of a US Pistol,
Model M1911A1, Caliber .45, Automatic, NSN 1005-00-726-5655, Serial Number (insert here).

I am interested in any and all Department of Defense history, military branch of service
it was assigned to history, and / or military unit history. I am willing to pay $(insert some cost here in whole $$) for this service.

Thank you for your time, and for your service to our great country.

Having roots in the Syracuse area, I've often wanted a vintage Remington Rand. Never found one where the condition and price worked. Opted out of where you got yours as there was no guarantee I'd get a non-arsenal refurbished matching slide and frame RR. You scored "bigly." Congrats!

Glad to see my FOIA draft making it onto other forums.

Here's mine from CMP, 12/44 matching RR, almost all correct parts-wise. It served with the NC ARNG:

I was trying to come up with some 'typewriter' comment...

Well, it seems to be a lot more functional and even up to date for use than the typewriters they made for years.....

I have a 1913 that saw two wars. It got rearsenaled in 1942 where they changed the grips and the grip spring housing for no apparent reason.

I'd LOVE to find a long grip safety as this short one bites the piss out of me.
