Rogers & Spencer Army Revolver- did you know this?
Watch the video and tell me if you knew the movement of these revolvers after they were purchased by the US gov't near the end of the Civil War.

I just ran across this yesterday and knew next to nothing about the Rogers and Spencer revolver until Ian filled us in. Really neat piece!
Those originals probably bring a pretty penny on today's market. Once in a while a repro shows up but they also aren't cheap.

Very interesting and informative video on this revolver. I was not aware of them before watching the video you provided Para.

Not only had I never known the history of this revolver, the fact it was crated for four decades is mind blowing. It also looks extremely well made.

Never heard of it. It looks hell for stout. It also looks like you could take it out shooting right now, the shape it’s in is kind of incredible.

I never knew about these revolvers.
Surplus all but 18 out of 5000. Cool history.

Yes, I was aware of the disposition of these revolvers. I have always liked the Rogers & Spencer, these first came to my attention as a teenager when i bought several Ruger Old Armys, the loading lever is a near copy of the R&S. Though Ruger dispensed with the screws.
I also used to pour over Bannerman catalogs and marvel at all the wonderful things avialable.
The farmer i used to work for told me stories of going to Bannermans in NYC as a child and buying civil war bayonets for change.
He too was from Brooklyn and his stories of Bannermans were always entrancing.
There is a similiar story of some Springfield rifles in NH, that were kept in stock and released in the 60’s IIRC, I recall when the hit the market and were gems.
cant recall if they were NH state militia, or the one time factory... I digress.
