I see they have a 9 round now for the G43, which is very interesting.

I know they recommend that you replace the mag catch with theirs so there is no wearing the factory mag catch but does that one have any negative effect on the standard factory plastic mags, ie: chewing them up?

Theoretically using the factory mags with the Shield catch or the Shield mags with the factory catch can wear the plastic part. I think the catch is probably less likely to wear the mags than the other way around because the stamped notch in the Shield mags is obviously going to be rough on polymer.

If you look at how Glock pistols are built, there are no places where metal and plastic bear on each other. Even the spring loaded bearing is plastic to interface with the slide cover plate.

Have no idea how the sa mag catch effects the use of factory 43 mags but on the 43x the factory mags don't play well. They don't insert clean or drop free. I went all sa catch and mags on my 43x.

Had my first range session last Sunday and have no issues in the first 200rds.

Really glad to see sa making the 9rd mags though.

I agree with mustang pa-pa, the metal mag. release scratches up the factory mags and I could only assume eventually it will do the same the notch in the magazine itself. I have chewed up a little of the plastic in the frame just trying to swap out the mag releases on the smaller guns. Those springs aren't as flexible as on full size models.

Once the mag catch is switched over, that gun should be run with the Shield mags at all times. Neither the Glock poly mag catch or their poly mag bodies will hold up with mixed use of the Shield Arms products. I've built one 43X/48 frame with the Shield Arms catch but have the unfortunate dilemma of forgetting to stock up on their 15rd mags prior to the WA capacity limits going into effect last year. Only two 15 rounders doesn't feel close to being enough (sigh).
