Like to try a red dot on my HK USPf .45. Is this what I need to make that happen? https://hkparts.net/product/re...ull-size-p18898.htm/ _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray!

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. |
Yes, if you are willing to knock out the rear sight and use one of the specified red dots. It will sit higher than a gun that has a slide cut for a red dot so it may be a tad ackward. ________________________ "Don't mistake activity for achievement." John Wooden, "Wooden on Leadership"

No big loss. My rear sight lost one of the white dots. I tried a dab of paint, but it never really looked right. _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray!

Dovetail mounts aren't generally well regarded. You end up with a really high mounted dot and quite a bit of weight in the dovetail that is much more likely to move. You do get some exposure to the dot without modifying your slide, but you also end up with an inherently poorer experience.

Okay. You guys are talking me out of it. Been wanting a 9mm 1911. I can get one with a slide that will accept red dot? What do I need to look for? _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray!

Ideally the slide will be machined to receive the red dot of your choice. This will give you a perfect pocket for stable mounting and also give you many options regarding back up iron sights. Slides that require additional plates or adapters between the dot and the slide can work well, but in my experience lower mounting (with less parts) yields better results.

What about a P226 Legion SAO with a factory mounted red dot ?
