Thoughts on buying an original p225
I'm looking at picking up a very good condition p225 (not p6 or 225a1). Seller is asking 425 which seems fair to me. Only problem is he only has 1 magazine.
I looked around and doesn't seem like magazines are easy to find right now.
Any suggestions on locating magazines and replacment parts?

Mags and parts will come up from time to time here in the classifieds.

I think the original 225 is a great gun. Mine doesn't see much use, but it won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

And at $425, you won't find one much cheaper these days.

At $425, I'd buy.

I've always liked the classic sigs but foolishly sold all mine years ago. Excited to get one again.

Great gun! First SIG I ever owned and a favorite.

Feels and carries great. The P225 should feed most hollow points in my experience, the P6 was hit or miss here.

At 425 go for it. You can run mags down and the average shooter isn’t breaking and or using guns up and the P225 certainly isn’t a fragile gun/design.

I have a P225, P228, and M11A1 (aka P229). I like my 225, but it's a range toy. It's the same size as P228/9, so hard to justify it for carry. Of the three, it does IMO have the best trigger feel.

Used mags on ebay run ~$50. When they pop up on SF, usually a little less, maybe $35-40.

If you're satisfied w/ the condition, can afford it, and don't expect to use it for EDC, I say get it. At $425, if you decide you don't want it anymore, you should be able to get your money back on it pretty easily, especially on SF.

Even thought the size is close, I personally felt, that they FEEL really different in the hand and on the side in terms of 228/229 vs 225.

As always with opinions YMMV.

I have an original P225 and sometimes will concealed carry it. Yes it's about the same size as my P228, but thinner and feels better in my hand. I had new night sights installed and installed Hogue G10 grips. I have been buying magazines over the years and now have about 15 or so of them. I did get replacement magazines springs from Wolff and gave the magazines new life!

For $425, if you don't buy it, send him my way! I have a P6, and it's a great shooting gun. The P225 has great ergonomics...compared to it, my P229 feels like a 2x4.

I carry mine daily. First thing to do is send your P225 to Gerry Ritacco or Robert Burke for the High Torque and QTR trigger treatments. You won't believe what the trigger is like afterward.

For $425.00, but it.

At one time (pre P6 imports) the P225 held almost cult-like status. While it fit most people, it did not fit everyone 100%. The good news was, if it did not fit you, or you did not like it, you could easily sell it and not take a loss.

A Classic Sig for sure, one I think you can't go wrong with.

I bought it!
Very good condition was a bit of an exaggeration. Internally it's great. Rails are in great shape. The outside condition has some character but nothing I can't live with. Got it for 400 and I'm happy.
I need to figure out how to post pics.

Nothing wrong with a little character. $400.00 is strong. Congratulations on your new Sig.

I figured out how to post a link but can't seem to get the image to show.

I'm gonna have to do something about the role in. The previous owner buggered it up pretty good.

I have a K-kote just like the one on the main page here. Mine fits my hand near perfect. I only use it for the range.

Roll pins do look pretty bad, could stand to be replaced. I'd also look at/under the grip screws as well.

Here's some P225 gun porn for you! Wink
