I can't imagine too many scenarios where I would ever have cause or opportunity to use a LEO magazine obtained in the wild.

Yes, everyone in my area is 5.56 AR stanag mag. Well, there was one agency using pump remington rifles. Not sure what mag it used. lol

And for those that still have shotguns, it's all 12ga.

Had a friend praise his new pistol, 17 in the mag and one in the chamber, with two extra mags on his belt. I told him unless Heat or North Hollywood went down he wont need all of that, and if he did he better call in an artillery or airstrike

Like 20 years ago on a forum somebody (non LEO/Duty) was stating that he carried, and I am not quoting exactly but the point stands, a Glock 17 with 3 mags IWB, a Glock 26 on his ankle with 2 mags, fox spray, hand cuffs, fixed blade, large multi tool, SUREFIRE 6P, backup small SUREFIRE, Lighter, phone etc. basically it went on and on and he finished with “the way I see it, I am ready for anything!” The very next post, which cracks me up to this day…………

There is no universe where if a private citizen burns through all of his ammunition I will willingly give him mine. Hell, if an officer runs through all of his ammunition and hasn’t settled the issue I’m going to suggest he head to the rear and let someone else handle it.

If the situation has gotten so dire that a private citizen has access to my ammunition, he can take my pistol as well. I will no longer be in a position to need it.

Now, I do keep a couple boxes of loose ammo in my gear bag if someone needs to top off, but that is an entirely separate incredibly unlikely event.

It was an important issue for John Wick and Sofia.

If it was the Remington 7615, those also use standard AR STANAG mags. That's the only pump-action rifle I can recall being marketed to LE this century

The 7615 Police was an abortive attempt by Remington to sell rifles to LE agencies basically based solely on the manual of arms being substantially similar to a pump shotgun so transition training for their officers would be simpler. In every other way it's significantly worse than an AR. As one might guess, it was not popular, and it was discontinued within a few years of its introduction in the mid-2000s. (Though the commercial 7615 hunting rifles were a bit more popular overseas in places like Canada and Australia.)

That local agency must have been one of the only agencies out there that was interested.

I would/will carry what I shoot the best with. If I need more ammo, I will just take the gun of the fallen person.

What makes you think I’m going to give you any of my ammo if you’ve used all of yours? In the LE world, this has been a crutch for administration to standardize. There isn’t the justification that it’s an issue that everyone needs to carry the same magazines.

And frankly, the bigger reason is lazy fucking red shirts. You know, the “balance a piece of brass on the front sight” types.

Sticking with the theme of private citizen, not LEO, the vast majority where any shots are fired are very low round count events.

Of course there’s always an outlier, plus the likelihood of use for the private citizen is very low.
