We gonna get some oojima in this house! |
I was chugging along with a Gen4 G19 and just had to have a Gen5 mos version. Well, I didn’t like it. Didn’t like the flat front strap, trigger, Ambi slide release and I’m left handed. I had to pick up another gen4. Anybody else not digging the gen5? ----------------------------------------------------------- TCB all the time...

I recently shot a Gen3, 4 and 5 head to head. I am a big fan of the 5.

I was a huge fan of Gen 4 and still like them but when I bought a Gen 5, I really like those better. I didn't mind finger grooves but what a difference without them. Trigger feels better and this is the first Glock I haven't done the 25¢ trigger job on. To each his/her own though. I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

I have a Gen 4 with a milled slide and a Gen 5 MOS FS. I like the Gen 5 a little more.

The one I had had a hitchy trigger. I polished the internals, put 500 rounds through it and it still felt funky. I would pull a shot low every now and then. Irritating to say the least. I have hated on the finger grooves for years. Realized they help me shoot. ----------------------------------------------------------- TCB all the time...

I am not a “Glock Guy” so to speak so take my opinion for what it’s worth. The Gen 5 is far and away my favorite vs my gens 3 and 4. I am actually amazed out how so few small changes transformed the gun for me. But like is said not a “Glock Guy” and everybody is different. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

I'm fine with either. I like the finger grooves actually but the Gen 5 trigger seems better out of the box.

I've had a few (30+)Glock 19s; Gen 2s, Gen 3s, and Gen 4s. My current Glock 19s are Gen 4 FS models. I really like them. The new version of the Gen 5 looks really good to me, I had the chance to handle one at a local range last Friday night, didn't shoot it, just handled it. Liked it, liked it a lot. For my hands, the smaller grip option of the Gen 4 & 5 really makes a difference. The finger grooves of the Gen 4 fit me, so they are not an issue. With the new Gen 5 no longer having the front grip cut out, I also like that grip. If I didn't have my Gen 4 FS versions right now, I would be picking up a couple of the new Gen 5s. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

Thank you Very little |
Gen5 G34 is hands down better than the Gen4 I had, even with a ghost trigger job in the 4 the NIB 5 felt better, and glad the flat front is better,

It's all part of the adventure... |
I like my Gen 4 19, but I REALLY like my 19X, which is basically a Gen 5. I also really like my Gen 3 23... I own all generations except a gen 1. For me, it's all about the gen 4.

I replaced my Gen 3 G23 with a Gen 5 G19 a couple of years ago, and could not be happier. ____________________________ NRA Life Member, Annual Member GOA, MGO Annual Member

The G42 is basically a Gen 4.5. The only thing you’re missing is the change in rifling and the ambi slide lock lever. They extended the back of the frame to a small beavertail and I can’t see the need for interchangeable back straps in a gun that size. The grip frame texture has different polymids than the Gen 4, they’re more like the Gen 5. What’s missing that you want? My G42 shoots as accurately as I could ask for so I don’t need the “marksman” barrel, and the slide doesn’t bite my hand, so I don’t need backstrap options. I could see someone wanting the ambi slide release, but I don’t need it, so I guess I don’t understand the basis of your gripe. This message has been edited. To add to what Smudge posted, the G42/43s are often referred to as Gen 4.5, b/c they introduced the new trigger design that carried over to Gen5.

Agreed they’re close but maybe a barrel & flared magwell would be a nice add. The G42 is the best 380 cal pistol Ive owned and I am not a fan of the caliber. What it lacks in caliber is made up in other ways

I have to admit I prefer my G19.4 to my Gen 5 versions. The finger grooves work for me.... I know it doesn’t have all the “upgrades” of the 5th Gen that are supposed to make it more reliable but I guess I’ll live with that...
