When did they go to the black barrel?

Were the original barrels PVD or Chrome plated?

I am fairly certain they are not stainless. I have heard both PVD and Chrome plated. The spec sheets have always had these listed as carbon steel barrels.

Mine was born 24July2017 and has the black barrel.

I read somewhere else that competition shooters complained of the wear on the barrel hood of the stainless barrels.

The black ones are DLC coated and hold oil better so that's why they changed it.
